I really like your videos. I like how you aren't trying to tell anyone what to do. I also like your professionalism.

Seems like a wise plan to grow the flavoring hops... As you said, having an ingredient you can point to out in the field must really help to tell the farm-to-beer story.

Very cool man! I'm a micro farmer in Iowa, learned of you through permaculture voices, years ago. I have had the pleasure of talking to diego on his podcast as well. I'm currently just getting into brewing over the past year, and I LOVE IT, haha. What first got me into small scale urban farming was all the varieties of heirloom tomatoes and their huge flavor...and now brewing is pulling me in with all the hops and potential for new flavors. I am of course way ahead of myself in thought, but the tiny idea sprouting in my head is that I want to start a brewery. After starting farming and working with chefs and restaurants and brewpubs...even though it is a very tough business, it just seems like a beautiful idea to have a small farm producing all of what is on the menu. And I know it would not be as romantic as it seems, haha...a lot of work. But this is awesome man! You're doing it! Hope you are having a good winter and I hope the spring is dry and early! Take care man!

It will be interesting to learn more about growing and harvesting the hops crop. Looks like you have given up on the orchard for now. Hope you have a great season.

I'm fascinated by the prospects of growing hops. I was very close to taking a job as accountant/hops garden care taker for a brewery/micro-brewery in Greenport NY. It was just too much of a drive for what it would have paid, just part time but I thought it could be very interesting learning experience.

John, how's life been? I miss all your videos, or at least I haven't seen any in a long time. I now have (thanks to your videos) a few hops growing (well Not now, it's winter ) and I love to be a part of that crazy life style, such is farming.

Can you do a video on how you dry your hops? I am very interested in how you do that and the different options there are for that.

I’d be interested to hear about your pest management plan. I struggle with hop aphids where I live. Lady bugs just can’t keep up and I’m apprehensive to spray the plants even with a plant oil based insecticide. Don’t want anything ending up in the beer. Great channel! I’m not a farmer but find the videos fascinating.

Talking wierd crazy plants, I hear that the plants are either male or female, not both as in most plants. I bumped into a discussion of whether males were needed in the yard and wondered what you were doing?
