2018 Hyundai Accent: Review

Base budget cars have come along way. For someone on a tight budget that wants good mpg, warrenty and cheap repairs its hard to top cars in this class.

I bought the base SE with the six speed manual transmission. Very happy with the Car. Got 38 MPG on the first tank of gas.

I got the Urban Grey color just because it was the only Manual trans Accent on the lot. You can do an inventory lookup at most Hyundai dealer sites on the web so you can see what they have in stock. Hyundai says they will sell less then 10% of Accents with the manual so they are sort of hard to come by. The Urban Grey is a nice metallic color that grew on me after I got the car. Getting over 40MPG now. Happy with the car.

I just bought the 2020 SE with 6 speed manual. For the money, it can't be beat. It's not as quiet as the 2009 Santa Fe we have, and of course the V6 is smoother. Ride quality is very good for a small car, even with the torsion bar rear suspension. The remote power trunk release was a nice surprise. The only problem is that the manual version is very hard to find.

Glad you're doing the SE. Would have been awesome if it was a manual. I actually requested a quote from a local dealer this morning to see what the "deal" is...on a manual of course!

Great Review. The Base trim comes with a tilt steering wheel only, and the SEL & Limited have Tilt and Telescopic Steering Wheels. Also, Power Driver seats are Not available on any of the trim levels.

Awesome review, Drew! I really like how you chose to check out the base model. Also, Hyundai surprisingly doesn't offer a Hatchback model of the Accent for the U.S. market. While on the other hand, Kia offers a Hatchback model of their sub-compact Rio in the U.S. market... This is probably because Hyundai has a ton of hatchbacks coming to, and currently in their lineup (the Veloster, the Kona, the Elantra GT, etc.) So, they probably saw the Accent hatchback to be a bit "too much". Nevertheless, keep up the great work! I will definitely have to get my hands on one of these new Accents to review! Like always, DriveAndBeDriven will definitely be STAYING GOLD!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

in the Philippines you can get the base model Accent with no air bag, no abs and with only 1.4L engine for approx $15,000 USD as well.

Stereo was not great however for that starting price the car is a solid package. That warranty is awesome

The SE and SEL have reflector headlights, the Limited is the only trim with projector headlights.

I just noticed EVERY hyundai now looks the same. Literally hyundai took the genesis front for every car and tweaked the rear on each model. Its starting to annoy me!
