I rented a new 2018 Mazda3 Touring last month, and I was WOWED by the car's satisfying driving feel. The handling and chassis tuning are similar to what I expect from BMW or Audi, which is to say it's playful and confident, firm but not harsh. It's easy to drive the Mazda3 aggressively and feel inspired to keep pushing it - yet remain completely in control. This car just feels *right* and feels like a true companion.

AutoAcademics not to mention the only inside changes I noticed with this & the 14/15 Mazda 3's was the steering wheel & the center armrest setup. THAT'S IT! One can also very likely find a 14/15 Grand Touring well into the mid teens by now... IF you actually find a listing for one... way too similar to the slightly older ones IMO...

I just bought a 2018 5 door base sport. It comes with so much stuff it nearly seems loaded. The new generation is coming out...and I think that is why I was able to buy the 5 door hatch with 6 speed manual trans for $15,235 US brand new. This is a hell of a car for that price. I was hard pressed to find any other NEW car for that price that wasn't a stripped down eco box. In 2018 these things are a bargan, and it is not unrealistic to pay $5000 less than MSRP. What else can you buy for 15k new that is this nice?

Real question is would you rather sacrifice some space and gets mazda3 hatch or sacrifice some luxuries like heated steering wheel and blind spot monitoring, etc for more space on the civic. That's my biggest question I have for myself because Idk what I value more. Please help
@AutoAcademics6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Tech Defender. Both the Mazda3 and the Civic are wonderful cars. The standard Mazda3 might be just a bit sportier than the standard Civic, but the Civic can be optioned with more bells and whistles. Of course the price will reflect that, as well. We suggest you take an opportunity to drive each car and see which one fits you better. Take in to consideration what is most important to you because it is different for each person. For some, fuel economy might be most important. For others, performance is. Some might like the style of one better than the other. Best part is that this is a good problem to have because you have choices. It's only bad when you don't. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Awesome humble self-brag text message at the 01:32 videomark......lol. This Mazda 3 and the Honda Civic are the best choices in this compact sedan category. This light interior would seem difficult to keep clean over a period of time.
@AutoAcademics6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the interior color is something that buyers would need to think about, J High. It's beautiful, but unless you've traded in your blue jeans for white gloves, you'd have to take that into consideration. And we do thank Chris' wife for sending that text. LOL

I didn't buy this car because the front license plate sits too high. It looks ugly. I did get a 6 though, and I'm in love with it. Zoom zoom.
@AutoAcademics6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there are quite a few cars where the license plate detracts from the styling of the car, B Goode. Most of us have been fortunate enough to live in States where only the rear plate was required. Thanks for watching!
@sevecc6 жыл бұрын
There is an easy fix for that. You can buy a dedicated , no-drill plate relocation kit which moves the front plate below the grill and keep your gill perfectly clean. That's what I did :) By the way, I love your review. All necessary info provided in a perfect way, with no BS. Great work!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, killbot86. We don't get the Mazda2 here in the States, so the 3 is the smallest for us. Hope this clarifies things a bit better and thanks for watching.
