Congratulations to Elina Svitolina! I really like it when the big hitters get beat. It would be a sad day for tennis when only the power hitters win. Svitolina can run down just about any ball - and she can hit winners too. This is a huge win for her.

Hello, don't blame on Osaka because Svitolina obviously is better player.I don't watch tennis match in one year because I am a fan of Sharapova, but she lost her rythm and now I found Svitolina , her backhand and and baseline ball are simmilar to Shara's ball.In addition, she has a good defense from Angelique Kerber with smart moves. So no matter how well Osaka plays she will get trouble when face Svitolina. Normally Osaka gets the point when her opponents make mistake , but Svitolina play very well and she works hard with each point. Just watch Dubai 2018 when Osaka lead 3-1 in second set and then she lost 4-6 at the end , you can see how well Svitolina come back the match.she is a briliant player, I think I will be her fan now

Well that’s a disappointing end, but few things to consider: A. Fatigue from winning a 1st and massive career title the previous week. B. Emotional fatigue from beating her idol, Serena. C. The demands of winning back-to-back titles, particularly masters. D. Svitolina’s tenacity and game; although her game is similar to Sasha Vickery with good groundies and decent serve, Svitolina is more aggressive. Expected a closer match. E. Osaka looked flat and regressed back to old habits and footwork. Crazy amount of potential for Osaka, but equal amount of work to be done.

@magnetmac16 жыл бұрын
I don't see any reason why anyone would be "butthurt" because Serena is not doing well. On the contrary everyone should be happy that Serena is back so soon after child birth. Nobody expects Serena to start off on a long winning streak because she hasn't reached that form yet. That's understandable and that's why nobody is "butthurt".

Naomi was not too bad, but a bit tired and did many mistakes. Svitolina's condition was too good, returned Naomi's serves deeply, brought it to the stroke game, and swayed Naomi side to side successfully. It seems that 9 consecutive warfare from BNP with Noseed was truly hard. After the losing match, Naomi tweets "Time to take a breakkkkkkkk".

I'm still waiting for SERENA to get back. She did win AO 2017 while 2 months pregnant, which means that gorgeous baby Olympia is the youngest ever female to win a Slam,lol. Besides Serena almost died giving birth to her child. Both Williams Sisters have serious health issues and just get better. Lets face it SERENA IS THE GOAT. She as always is pushing herself too hard. But no matter what anyone says ,WATCH OUT, WHEN THE QUEEN RETURNS , cause Venus is still in top ten?! And when the Sisters double up, again the impregnable Williams Wall will go up.

Amazing how yesterday everyone was talking about the possibility of the ''sunshine double'' for Osaka. That she had an amazing win against her idol, that she might go the distance and win it all, that she had it in in her to win and now suddenly, she is mentally fatigued and tired, she played awful and so many more excuses... How about Svitolina played better, end of story? One great win during a tournament doesn't mean you'll be lifting the trophy at the end, especially in earlier rounds, because surprise there is a lot of competition out there.. I really hope people learn their lesson of not overhyping anyone that has a huge win early on in a tournament, especially since women's tennis has been quite unpredictable for the past couple of years.

I was shocked when I heard this commentator say, "one of the hottest properties in the sport right now". Naomi Osaka is not property, she's a woman. When you convey the word property the next line of thinking is owner - because all properties have one. In this era of human trafficking & women still fighting for equality in many areas, its offensive to equate women & property. The WTA should fire him
@ctony866 жыл бұрын
Naomi's game now is only one dimensional, not enough variety, she need to develops more her net games & disguise drop-shots to have something "plan B" to back her up when just hard hitting along sometime does not works, like Simona's game is too one dimensional. But luckily she has those most important tools already, big FH, BH, Serves, Speed & Stamina, She will be the future #1 & GS winner.
