On Saturday, August 4th, The Thoreau Club hosted the 2018 Minuteman Summer League Championship Swim Meet at our outdoor facility. There were six participating teams and approximately 1,000 attendees, including hundreds of swimmers along with their families. Even in spite of the thunderstorms, a Tornado Threat and Flash Flood Watch, all swimmers were able to compete.
For the first time ever, The Thoreau Sharks Swim Team won first place at the championship. “We are very proud of each of our swimmers. We won 21 out of the 54 races and there were 22 new Summer team records set. Thoreau Sharks, we’re all we got, we’re all we need.” - J Simmons, Head Coach of The Thoreau Sharks Swim Team
