2018 Mod: Otis Traction Glass Elevators @ Water Tower Place in Chicago, IL

Why did they need to modernize these elevators if they were already modded 10 years ago!??? And they didn't even put in handrails, and these take forever to level now. They could've at least fixed the door timers on these things. But nope these things are not making any traffic go faster. Ughhh

As of 11/05/18 - they are now modernizing the express elevator, the door close button does NOT work, those are SOOO busy :(

The first mod was replacing the fixtures on these to make it code compliant, but otherwise the logic was the same. Now they have also got rid of the original logic :(

They should've converted the express elevator to regular service. People will push the local and express buttons and take whichever one comes first, making unnecessary stops for the other one. What this place might need is Compass.

I wonder myself if they are converting the express elevator to a local elevator now. They already got three express ones that go up to 8 in Macy's. May not be nessessary, but they should've done something where those three also serve 7, and all three glass elevators serve all floors. Might be better off that way to be honest.

That could be. It doesn't look like the mod is done yet, so hopefully they would do that conversion and fix the door timers. Did these get new counterweights and motors? I remember you mentioning in an older video that they used an old kind of motor without counterweights. On an unrelated note, the Embassy Suites Mag Mile is rumored to have gotten keycard readers. Did you stop there when you visited the city?

The first 2 mods were okay as they retained their original logic and still looked fun to ride. But the third mod involved replacing the logic which was extremely pointless. Otis was once a high quality company that made long lasting lifts, but they seem to have lost their passion and values.

If they are modernizing the elevator they could have helped make it better instead of worse. But it pretty much looks the same except for some new gen 2 fixtures slapped on. It was pointless

Oh my gosh. Now these level bad. Usually I like Otis but I'm not a fan of this mod. Only the fixtures because they look nice, but there's far nicer elevators in the mall than this

This is the worst mod ever, they should of just made the Express Elevator Regular Service or made all the Elevators go faster! It’s also pointless that Otis added a Slap on Gen2 fixtures and new electronic bells replacing the old mechanical bells! POINTLESS MOD!!! Otis should be ashamed of themselves
