i have never seen pokemon tcg played. and i am completely loss. none of my experience with MTG helped me understand

I never play tcg before, but from the gist of it, the left guy basically using a team that made him can draw a lot of cards (with 3 zoroak GX, remove 1 card from hand to discard pile and draw 2 cards) and put 3 cards from discard pile of his choice back to his draw pile (with oranguru). he had like max potion to heal, and some cards that can remove energy from his opponent pokemon (you need energy to use strong attack, so if you lose them, basically you cannot do a lot to your opponent pokemon). that's what basically he was doing for the whole match. recycling cards again and again. this match was super boring lol

Why Aaron forfait the first match? If a game is stalled there is no reason to forfait. Going forward in the game you could be the one to lose, how could it be the opponent.

Giovanni Carloni I haven’t finished watching, but time management is a big deal in tourneys. Rather to scoop and have a chance at game three than have a draw because you took so long game one. At least that is the thought in Magic.

Sha Fermo yes but with a draw both players keep the same score and therefore the same chances of winning, while with a forfait the opponent gains a point with the chance to win the whole match if he win the game to follow. However I'm sure there must be some tactics behind.

he did it because he would eventually run out of cards in his deck, which loses him the game. while Tord was in a position to repeat forever without running out. even if Aaron stalled the game out he would have lost it, and had less time for a potential game 3

zalto16 oh ok I get it. Actually in all TwoHitsKO decks, cards like Acerola or Max Potion (or Scoop Up Cyclone in expanded) could ruin the game.

at the start of the first game, when tapu lele and Mewtwo where the active pokemon, tapu lele should have done weakness damage, right? Mewtwos weakness is the same type as tapu lele.

Sadly, tapu lele attack description says to do 20x dmg per energy attached to both active pokemon, do not apply resistance or weakness after the attack /:
