Having checked with the Royal Alloy Owners on FB, it appears the GP DOES have metal side panels AND metal leg shields, so we were misinformed...apologies!

Confirmation received from MOTOGB that only the front light unit and mud guard are plastic.

This review needs updating, I was interested in buying one of these but a friend of mine bought one brand new and after just seven months of ownership the front forks are seizing up the shocks and springs are going rusty and the bearings on the steering seized up as well when he took it apart the grease used on the bearings looked like hardened toffee,and this is a scooter that is garaged and only comes out in dry weather, so I've done more research and found my mates one is not the only one with these issues, the top of the range of one of these is on a price point with a vespa,so it's a vespa scooter gte for me it's the better made and better quality scooter all round.

Great thanks for that mate..had no advice of dealers. New rider so won't be hitting any corners that fast the tyres will suffer. Was just wondering about straight line speed ect while running in. I'll just take it steady until 1st service..

I wonder if it would not be possible to raise the handlebar about 10 centimeters. An approximate height to that of the Vespa 1.1 meters. This results in much greater ride comfort. The engine is fantastic and the explanation superb

good little review. i bought a gt 125 a few weeks ago and so far am very pleased with it. ok, to be fair its not exactly going to win any land speed records (my tuned li150 lambretta will beat it easily) but for a chinese machine of this type and price it appears very well screwed together and handles great.

did I hear correctly? a Chinese 125cc scooter for Honda forza money (or there abouts), I'm stunned. From what you're saying it sounds like a good bike but can it really be worth such a high price tag. That sort of money usually buys a high end Japanese machine. I would have placed the water cooled model around the £2100 mark, slightly lower than the Taiwanese built Sym Jet 14, which is also water cooled and comes in at £2500. Even the Honda PCX is seems pricey but at £3K is a thousand pound cheaper than this Chinese built runabout, and comes with handy extras like stop-start, usb ports and under seat storage.

Would love one , but as my last scooter (a Vespa) was damaged by youths trying to steal it , on many occasions, I am not going to risk another scooter . The perils of living in a run down seaside town like Blackpool.

Taking the mick on the price though, Honda PCX (which does not have the RA cool looks) is Liquid cooled is only £200 more than the air cooled Royal Alloy.

They use a CVT clutch and auto box, so yes, twist and go.

Hi is this scoots body same? or very simular to scomadi... especially front forks etc??? Looks the biz I had a modena very simular too vespa I now have a px125 but would like go back to auto the 'alloy' looks lambrettaish cheers ...from dave

Always good to twist 3/4 throttle, gentle pull aways, maybe run it at 45-50 for the first 100 or so miles. Did your dealer not give you any pointers? Be careful on the new tyres, respect corners and don't lean so far for the first 100 miles to bed the tyres in nicely; and get rid of the shine on the tyres, grind some grip into the edges.

£2500 for a plastic chinese scooter is mental ..... compare this to an AJS modena which is quite rightly around £1600 and has the same engine in it. I've been told that when the 5 year chinese patent is up anybody over there can make them and the price will come down accordingly.

The engines are not the same and the RA makes around 2.5hp more for the base model air cooled engine. Also, the electrics are different as are the body panels, as well as the modena being pretty creaky and the royal alloy just isn't....There are a great number of differences between the 2. Please don't follow the flock and make anti-Chinese generic statements. Don't forget a vast majority of 50 and 125 Honda's and Yamaha's are made in China also yet their name keeps them more expensive.

I understand what you are saying. That old tinny 2 stroke sound was part of the atmosphere...just moving with the times now, more efficient, environmentally friendly (main reason...bloody Belgium lol)

Wouldn’t buy another electrical problem cold night killed battery rear light work when it want pile of Chinese rubbish save your pennies for a scomadi! Build quaility personally is not good and will only do 50mph ?
