I just saw the full version of this performance today for the first time and cried after the baritone duet. I am currently deployed and am experiencing the worst in humanity every other day. This reminded me of what the best of human creation can be. Thank you to those who played and danced in this performance. You have brought music back into my soul which has been lost for over 5 years now.

I feel like people only like this show for the ballad & the mellophone sustain in the closer. Otherwise, you never hear much else about the rest. There’s so many under-appreciated aspects of Babylon: the small ensemble/ duets in Metropolis 1927, the Club Sound dance, the backflip chap at the end of the opener. There’s so many gems that are simply overlooked.

Just came back from being on brass staff for the Guardians DBC for the 2021 season. One of the brass staff members is one of the baritone soloists. I didn’t realize until watching this clip to see if I could find him, and there he is being an absolute monster. He is such a kind and wise individual, and I really hope he goes far in the world of music and DCI.

Wait, are you sure you have the right person? (I’m not trying to doubt you, just confused). Skyler should currently be serving with the navy and not be staffing any drum corps, and Leo shouldn’t have aged out yet (2021 was his age out if I remember correctly).

The Euphonium and Baritone are at their best when you don't even notice their sound or part is there. That's not an insult, but a compliment. They're the scent that you can't quite put your finger on that reminds you of home, the sparkle of your diseased spouse's eye that you see from stranger in a crowd from a distance, the slight whisper of a breeze that triggers goosebumps and the memories of youth, the phantom cry of your first born. Euphonium's are the resonance of memories past and present, they wrap up the the whole ensemble of life's seemingly forgetful little things that are really the most important things that ever mattered.

Everybody be sure to read DCI's reply to Cameron Cavender below, in which they confirm that your ears weren't fooling you when you thought SCV was having problems with their wireless mics throughout championship week (clearly still evident near the top of the first solo). Nice work by DCI's engineers to save the performance.

@@brned1692 They had microphone issues, as lots of people listening to the show live noticed. The sound particularly during the ballad solos was too soft or suddenly too loud or was interrupted by static. Very annoying. You can still hear just a little if you listen closely, despite DCI having mixed sound from different performances to get the best possible audio for this recording.
