2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 V3.0: Three MAJOR Changes!

TVS is all set to launch the third generation of Apache RTR 160 on March 14. This version will be a major overhaul amongst all previous versions. This entry level track machine by TVS will now be sharper and sportier than before.
As per the rumors and spy shots the new bike from TVS will arrive in three major changes in terms of design, engine and safety. So, let’s find out!
No.1
Design
The new RTR 160 will share the same design language as of RTR 200 4V. The bike will get a new frame as of 200 4V but will be slightly revised. The new bike will also feature similar fuel tank, instrument console, head light, tail light, DRLs and Dual barrel exhaust as of RTR 200 4V.
The new RTR 160 will also get new set of alloys and will feature a rear monoshock suspension for the first time. The fuel tank capacity will be same as of RTR 200 4V which is 16 liters.
The main differences between the new RTR 160 and RTR 200 4V in terms of design will be single seat layout, slimmer tyres, conventional single rod handlebar and a slightly different looking center panel which is now painted in silver.

Engine
The 159.7cc single cylinder engine will now be equipped with an oil-cooler for better heat dissipation and will be more refined. The fuel system will remain same as of previous version which is a carbureted one. The bike will come in 5-speed manual transmission with slightly increased power and torque outputs.
No. 3
Safety
The new RTR 160 will now get ABS as an option but it is not yet confirmed whether it will be a single channel or dual channel ABS.
There will be three variants on sale: Single front disc, front rear disc and front rear disc with ABS.
The main competition of the new TVS Apache RTR 160 will be Bajaj Pulsar 160 NS, Honda CB Hornet 160R, Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ V2 and the upcoming Honda X-Blade.
