Nice solid review as always Gusto! I love the tidbits of background info provided at the beginning. This is a menu I've still yet to actually try.. it seems pretty straight forward.. a lot of on the go snacks and with little to no prep time required to eat everything. A clever and unique menu in that regard, almost like some sorta single meal version of an FSR.

They removed the FRH why? Because they think people would want the chicken And tortillas cold? It ends up more like a wrap then. This meal seems zeroed in on recovery. That green colored beverage is always so bright. Very Halloween looking beverages

I’m late to this one but I’m glad I caught it. I was in the infantry from 2008-2012. We were light infantry so we humped everywhere. It kind of stinks that they took the FRH out. MREs are looking suuuuper plain nowadays. It’s a little disappointing. I’m wondering if there have been cuts in funding for rations.

Wow 1,540 calories is really high for a standard mre. If you ate 3 of these you'd be really close to Russian Mt. Ration calories. What total that'd be 4,620 for 3 of this menu. That's crazy.

my dad worked oil field in the early 80s. he said him and the crew did the same sort of thing they had covered pots they would use to cook hobo style meals in. or just put cans of soup on the dash durning summer.

Nice review RC. I never had this MRE before. It's really a bummer that it has no FRH. I think warm it would taste way better. The colorfull beverages always amaze me. If i won't have a light in the night somedays, i mix up a green beverage instead. It shines so bright.

Very cool RC ! Happy Birthday sir. I recently did one of these, heating the chicken, sauce, and cheese, on A griddle, on my outside grill. I know not per the norm, but it came out excellent. Grilled the tortillas as well. Your meal looks awesome friend, and, by the book. If your weather is like Kentucky's, you could just leave it out in the sun, and, it would heat quickly. To drain the chicken juice afterwards, I'd just dip a paper towel into the compartment and just soak it up. Otherwise as you could see, the buffalo sauce was way too diluted to get the full hotness and flavor from it. Either that or just spoon just the chicken into a separate bowl first.

I love how all the mre reviewers never explain the taste of the commercial items, i suppose theyre so commonplace that theres not really a point in describing them. Most people probably have already had them, or they can get then really easily(at least here in the usa) Looked like a good ration, good to know the food quality is pretty decent for our soldiers!

GlenAbbey Farms I don’t either? Usually one would want an option to heat or not heat with a meal like this. This becomes a buffalo chicken wrap, without the FRH in there. I have seen FRHs in meals that don’t really need them also, though. I don’t know where the logic lies

Looks like it is intended for a hot climate. Ample amount of chicken. I have tried similar style canned chicken chunks and they are pretty good. Overall, I would like this ration.

Geez...No coffee, no hot chocolate mix, no soup. This wouldn't be my choice for a cold, rainy night. There's really not point in having a drink mix bag with no seal and no gusset. I imagine guys will just put the powder in a canteen and mix it up there. If it was a hot day, this would be an okay meal, but I really prefer a hot main and at least one hot beverage. Good review of how to eat it cold though. Good luck with the marathon.

@@rcgusto2427 I guess we're just old school, but a way to heat up the chicken, tortillas, and cheese sauce would have made for a much tastier meal, especially once it has a a couple years shelf life on it. Guys will always find a way to heat up water for coffee or hot chocolate if it's included in the ration. Leaving out one of the drink mixes and replacing it with coffee or hot chocolate doesn't seem like it would add much to the cost. If they couldn't add a real drink bag like the ones in Canadian rations, just put it in a regular packet instead of wasting money on one that doesn't work right anyway. Of course, I'm not running the numbers for a couple million rations, and a few pennies difference adds up to real money.

Good to see a new video man! This menu seems pretty comprehensive, something about it I’d like to see more in US MRE’s is the multitude and variety of beverages. For example in many others if you don’t like (insert flavor) drink or coffee you’re gonna have canteen water and like it lol

H ? I have two large LED arrays as well as a roomful of overhead lighting. I use a black background to provide contrast against the filmed objects. I’m not sure how much more I can add here.
