I have one in platinum gray and I absolutely love it. The enjoyment of the vr6 will get you in some trouble if you're not careful though. Great ride, instant power, and sporty styling. You can add a traction control button by purchasing the oem button and retrofitting it, but why would you want to turn it off if you're not going to the track? Get a VCDS dongle and enable XDS and other additional features FTW. :)

@@2sszo820 the vcds cable is almost $300, but works on almost all VW and Audi vehicles for enabling other features and diagnostics. The traction control button is about $50 not including install unless you DIY.

Jahon Louie. Nice to hear from someone who purchased at GT. I really liked the one I drove and tried to convince my brother-in-law to take a look. (Like many brothers-in-law, he dismissed his in-law's recommendation out of hand. :) )For less than $25K (the offer price around Seattle) it was a serious bargain. Though not as feature rich as rivals like the Camry, Accord, and Mazda6, it offered a lot in terms of its V6 and the great VW DSG. Not to mention its elegant looks and roomy interior.

Hey J. Louie. How reliable has the engine been? I have a 2008 Passat Kormfort with the 2.0 turbo and I love it but want a V6 Passat!

It has been very reliable. I had a 2009 Touareg with the same 3.6l VR6. These engines have been around a while and they have stood the test of time. They are bullet proof. Great sound, and great performance. Along with the 2.0T, I'd recommend changing the oil at least every 5k miles since VW/Audi engines have timing chains and will help ensure longevity. They will outlast the 2.0T. If anything, the DSG will die long before the engine. With that said, the DSG transmission has had a lot of kinks worked out by now and is quite reliable as well.

Allan Zepeda: Several reasons. First, I doubt that the VR6 could even be crammed into the engine compartment of the Jetta. And even if it could, its weight would severely impact the weight distribution of the much lighter Jetta. Finally, the Jetta, including the GLI, is designed to be an urban/suburban commuter, not a long trip cruiser. The VR6 is great for long range freeway slogs but it's not a great engine for a vehicle that needs to offer good fuel economy in city traffic.

Im sure its because the V6 VR6 is a dying breed. Turbo motors seem to be the future of not just Volkswagen but a lot of other automotive manufactures!

Unfortunately, the Passat GT has come and gone. The model is no longer in production for 2018 and isn't available for 2019. If you can find one still sitting on a dealer lot, pounce on it. They cannot be ordered from VW any longer. The good news is that if you can find one, deals are there to be had. Here in the Pacific NW they've been offered for around $23,000. But according to cars.com, there are only a few available anywhere in the country. At that price it's a very nice car. The VR6 is time tested, reliable, and very smooth. The DSG is a great transmission. The interior is roomy, especially in the back seat. And for those who prefer an elegant design, it's among the best looking vehicle in the midsize category. But to avoid disappointment know what the Passat GT didn't offer. Leatherette, not leather seating. No integrated navigation. No adaptive cruise control. No lane keep assist. No sunroof. A less than premium sound system. Compared to upper level trims of the Camry, Accord, and Mazda6 it lacks a lot of bells and whistles. But at a significant discount from the MSRP it was a great bargain. Did a fairly extensive test earlier this year with a friend at a local VW dealer when I was considering midsize sedans. For the price it was a steal. Too bad VW won't be offering it in 2019.

@@c5vette943 Sorry, my error. I should have said "no panoramic sunroof." It's a more or less academic issue since 2018 Passat GT's are hard to find and VW has discontinued the model (along with all V6 Passats) in 2019. In any case, congratulations on your purchase. I thought it was an excellent vehicle, especially for the price. Tried to convince my brother-in-law to take a look before the model disappeared but like many brothers-in-law he's an idiot. :)

Very solid car for the money. Nice interior and a strong v6. Too bad you cant turn off T/C, you'd think VW would leave that on the table for a sport tuned version of the Passat.

rowdytitan: The Passat GT wasn't actually "designed" by VW. It was a quickie response to desperate pleas from US dealers for a "sporty" midsize sedan. Other than some trim pieces and cutting some costs from the VR6 Passat it was rushed out of Nashville to make a minor splash.

@@stephenhendricks103 At any rate, someone within VW had to design or put together this trim level. Something as simple as some intangible programming to deactivate t/c with a button could've easily added more character to this car is all I'm saying.

The Tornado wheels on the GT are 19 inch not 18 inch. The GT doesn't have "radar guided cruise control" either. Just front collision warning and automated e-braking. The upholstery is leatherette not real leather (except for the steering wheel wrap and gearshift knob which are real leather)

I thought u showing the gti interior was wrong....u made me think the Passat GT was a Manual Trans for a hot sec. You should have lead off with the price. The car was dirty...new car that should have been right!

Laquanflake: Not really a fair comparison. Despite what JR14 said, the Passat is not a "full size" sedan. In fact it's slightly shorter than a Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Mazda6. I suspect his perspective was influenced by owning a GTI and thinking that even midsize sedans are gigantic. Owning a GTI, myself, I know that feeling.
