A matter of pure preference. Fact: DSG is A LOT quicker and it doesn't make you less of a driver if you go with it. It's just that some people love the feeling the manual has to offer. Myself included. I drive a Leon Cupra 290 with manual transmission and it saddens me to see VAG decided to remove the manual option on high performance models :(

George Eisikovits True that, and I feel the same. A Golf R is on my wish list, but in the UK its shitty DSG only now. I want manual, so would have to buy second hand if I wanted that. Muddy country roads, up in the hills, you want manual for that. DSG is for fanboys who have to floor it from every set of lights because they are immature, and they actually think other drivers are interested.

DSG quicker on straight line, on track or twisty roads manual is much better, better car control, better feedback, better gearing, better feeling overall.. Of course it's personal taste but I think it applies to a lot of ppl

The Golf 7 series looks pretty decent though.I am talking about a standard Golf 7 for this price you get much for your money interiour quality is really good exterior looks also fine VW did a really good job on it.

sOony57 Yes I agree, I have a Golf 7 1.4 tsi (140 hp) and I'm very happy with it, it's comfy to drive everywhere, clean engine sound, and it's still really fun to floor it on moutain roads !

It's using the windshield as a speaker. Makes the interior rattle. Easy to unplug it under the hood, the engine actually sounds nice.

I always found that GTI´s were a bit dull. Just a lot of people seem to have one if you look at what´s driving down the road. I´m also not a big fan of the DSG, you have much more feeling and control over the vehicle with a clutch, which I prefer. But a manual would be the deal for me. Time is running out though, who knows what happens to gas prices in the next decade and if combustion engines will be banned altogether. Problem is I´m only 18 and don´t have "rich" parents to shove money down my throat, maybe when I´m finished with my job education I´ll be able to lease one.

Do you not get digital dials as standard where you are? In the Uk the GTI comes with them as standard. For a second I thought it was the 7 and not 7.5.

Miguel Relvas I tried the Virtual Cockpit in a A3 Sportback (2017) from a friend. What can I say, it does not really run smoothly. In my GTI (2018) I deliberately decided against the Virtual Cockpit.

Tygo van Baak depends they aren't that far away from each other anymore golf has a bigger boot and a bit better interior (also still comes with holding handles) polo is more agile then a performance gti and only a car behind on the quarter golfs engine revs better and with more torque in the higher rpm range(which results in more hp) polo gti full specced is still cheaper then a golf gti base

bmw e46 lover they don’t want it competing with their Golf R. They also don’t want the Golf R competing with their Audi products. They have a certain tier for every car for power to price. You can get a stage 1 tune from Cobb Tuning that only needs a drop in air filter and get this to ~270 hp and over 310 lb/ft.
