First off, this is NOT a Transcontinental tourer. That's what the Venture is. This thing is akin to the Street Glide. Can you go a long distance on this machine? Sure, but you would be missing the taller windscreen and you wouldn't have the trunk so you would have to make some adjustments. I have the Venturr and for those of you complaining about the power, it is faster than the old Venture and gets better gas mileage. Trust me, it has plenty of power.

@Bredaxe5 жыл бұрын
I can understand why it didn't sell, and it's not a quality issue. Riders buy metric for mainly two reasons, price and reliability. A mid $20k's metric not named Goldwing was always going to have trouble selling because they have now entered a price range that includes bikes like, the Goldwing and touring level BMWs. The other trend I'm seeing is the face of what's considered an optimal touring bike these days. Traditional baggers are competing with 1000cc adventure bikes with panniers like the Versys, BMW GS, Super Tenere, VStrom and Triumph Tiger series just to name a few. They have all the creature comforts of a heavy bagger but with weights coming in below 600lbs loaded. You can go 2 up just fine with most of them and have lots of spare change left in your account.
@jordanblair5410 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately smaller riders like me don't have the option of those tall adventure bikes, plus they don't have comfy "older" passenger accomodations, so the heavy baggers and touring bikes with low seat heights are on my list.

Sadly, it looks like the lives of Eluder and SVTC has been cut short. Numerous actual Owners of the 2018 SVTC/Eluder models have been pressing Yamaha concerning the question of why no 2019 models are being offered (out of obvious concern). Yamaha has officially responded to those inquiries with letters stating that due to poor sales, no 2019's will be made and the future beyond 19 of the models will remain questionable based on whether or not the left over inventory of 2018's sell during the 2019 riding season. They have also been told that even if the model does go back to production it will be strickly done by a new "Yamaha Pre-Order System" and no bikes will be shipped to fill dealership floor space.

Air cooled turns me off . If I'm going to ride a Japanese motorcycle it has to be liquid cooled. I'd buy a Harley if I wanted air cooled. It's probably a gr eat engine but it's just not what you expect when buying a high quality Japan bike. I ended up buying a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 for that reason too. The Yamaha big cruisers were all air cooled. Again I'm sure they work great but I expect liquid cooling on a metric machine. Most people buy metrics because they don't want to deal with and worry about a hot engine in traffic. I don't care who makes it, Harley or Yamaha, those engines will cook if you let them sit in hot traffic for very long. I've had 2 Harley's and they ran fantastic for years , but gotta avoid sitting in traffic on a hot day

I was in awe when I first saw the Venture and of course the Eluder. I really like the front design. I even thought "if I will be able to buy a tourer one day, this may be it". However, that air cooled v2 was the worst possible thing that could happen to this bike. It's puny. It has almost no HP. It was hot. For fucks sake, why would anybody buy a tourer which will burn your legs in the summer and slow as fuck? I'm not a sportstourer guy but that engine is a disgrace on a Japanese bike. They could have gone with a v2 look-a-like v4 which would have given much better performance. Or at least they should have made it liquid cooled. I am a tourer guy although I can't afford one. And the past couple of years was like disappointment after disappointment. First Yamaha shit the bed with this engine. Then Honda shit the bed with the new Goldwing. Harley's a deathtrap. Indian's quality can only compete with Chinese. Kawasaki doesn't produce a real tourer, only sportstourer or cruiser. The only alternative looks to me is BMW's two tourers K 1600 GTL and R 1200 RT. Both are good bikes but I never liked BMW bikes looks or image. So what the fuck does a genuine tourer guy like me supposed to ride?

Great bike. But the support from Yamaha is unacceptable. My Eluder has been in the shop for months. Bike has issues with the starter failing, rear cylinder failures, and if the bike breaks down away from home, good luck finding a dealer who has techs that are familiar with this bike. If they are not, they can cause damages just from the servicing. Then you have to wait another while just for that part to come in. The navigation on the bike has only had two updates since 2018.

listepikster H&D does the same because they can't produce an engine with semi decent hp figure. Seriously, imho this bike has everything a luxury tourer guy would want and the only drawback is that moronic engine. That's a deal breaker drawback.

I totally agree yamaha knows how to make a good engine. but again, the guys riding them seem to be ok with it. but then theres Indian, who seem to have cracked it, with their engines producing over 100 hp :-)
@SadaEKE6 жыл бұрын
listepikster tourer people usually don't do their homeworks about the performance. They are too focused on the looks and sounds which I admit Yamaha has done hell of a job. Indian's problem is quality. Fit and finish to be exact. I have seen american cruise guys who got rid of their Indians in a year because of the rust and paint job.

Typical sport bike rider review. Has never put his woman on back of his ride, and drove 4-5 thousand miles cross country and back. ALL the things you claim as short falls, are actually PLUSES in the real world. Keep all your hybrid ( i wanna a bike that does everything) BS, and actually cover some serious miles and then talk to me about whats important.

At some point, why not just buy a car?

I still would prefer this bike if Yamaha had the decency to put a decent engine on it. Air cooled v2? AIR COOLED V2!!!

I own a Yamaha star 1300 deluxe and will never own another Yamaha , you have to adjust the valves every 1600 to 1800 miles or they rattle like a law Vegas dice table . In 2018 their is no reason for this problem .
@KindredGh0st5 жыл бұрын
the 6th thing you need to know is it requires valve adjustments. On a "touring" bike. lol... wtf?

Nice scrape @ 1:59😂 these things too big, can barely even corner

I did 700 miles in 2 days on Arkansas Twisties in September and not one scrape. Look at his line through that corner and you can clearly see the road is crowned where the peg scrapes.
