Although Yudz is surrounded by a couple of bodyguards and his coach Brian Orser,he seems not to be affected by all this...always concentrated through his earphone for his upcoming performance...full of discipline..that is he!

i like how he's just focused on being himself and getting ready for the performance but it sure seems ghisland is more focused on yuzu than orser is, seems orser has set priorities to jun more

Amy Cheng Certainly respect your opinion. Perhaps you may not have heard Brian talk about Yuzuru's personality years ago. Yuzuru is a very unique, independent and private person. Brian and Yuzu have been together for years and have a mutual and understanding relationship. He's proven over and over how much he cares for, respects, supports, and admires Yuzuru. Brian knows when to BE there...

It's sad, but some fans are so intrusive and rude that I really prefer him having a bodyguard. Maybe you have seen some of that kind of fans' behavior in the fancams? Now after the historic 2nd Olympic gold, he's obviously even more popular than he used to be. Having a bodyguard isn't probably even his own choice, but JSF's, I think (that was the case in the Olympics at least). I'm sorry for him that he needs one, I wish all the fans were as nice and considerate as he is. I also wish he can stay as "an athlete, not an idol" like he wants.

maccabe938 I think the bodyguards have to be there now... Yuzuru unfortunately has some persons who do not wish him well....At his level of excellence he has become an object of resentment and probably jealousy for some.... I'm sure he would prefer not to have them, but I'm very glad they are there. Happily he has thousands and thousands of fans both in Japan and internationally who love him & wish him well, and want only that he continue to skate as long he wants and in the way that he wishes We will not see the likes of him for a very long time, if ever. He not only gives us "works of art" ...HE IS A WORK of ART. Please know I respect your opinion....

He has always had bodyguards around him after winning gold at Sochi, they are usually Japanese so they blend in with the JSF people. This Caucasian guard tends to stand out a bit. There are a lot of crazy people out there, the word fans is derived from “fanatics” after all. Having a bodyguard and safety is no reason not to like someone, that is silly and being fair weathered.
