This is one of the highest sugar Japanese plum hybrids I've tasted! Candy Heart Pluerry is red fleshed very crisp even when full ripe, incredibly juicy and sweet. Many of the fruits measure 25+ brix. Do you see the sugar spots on this fruit?
It doesn't have complex flavors like Flavor King Pluot or Weeping Santa Rosa plum but it has better flavor than all other pluerrys I've tasted. Most pluerries in my experience are very sweet but lack depth of flavor - they are still very delicious. I don't taste any cherry either... I still love eating them and eat them by the bowl when its growing season to get my sugar high :)
Another great variety from Dave Wilson Nursery!

Hi, very nice to see your video. Thank you for sharing this. Which nursery did you get this bare root tree from and was it grafted to a Citation or Myro 29C rootstock?

Are you 'Girly' on the Growing Fruit Forum? Saw your KZbin link . . . and thought I'd check out your channel. You are so lucky to live in an area where you can grow such beautiful fruit! It's a challenge in VA with all of our humidity - every kind of weed known to man - and bugs bugs bugs! I enjoyed seeing your videos.

Hi Karen, so happy to see you here! I love reading your posts and comments on Growing Fruit! Yes that's me (I changed my channel name from girly to kind gardener. Thank you! Truly blessed to have such great weather here for gardening but with the high cost of living here, I may have to move out soon....

Those look fantastic! I've watched every video I can find on the Pluerry trees now but not much info on pollinators for each variety, zone info etc! What did you use for a pollinator for the Candy Heart and what region if you don't mind my asking?

I am in Bay Area CA zone 9b. Any other Japanese plum or pluot or pluerry that blooms around the same time will make a great pollinator. My pollinator was a weeping santa rosa plum. Santa Rosa or Burgundy plum are excellent pollinators as well. Any zone where you can grow a japanese plum, I would try this.

@@thekindgardener7091 She flowered last season but the wind knocked out the young fruit.Looking forward to enjoying some this season. Should I use dormant oil spray on the tree.

Have you ever had any issues with disease with the fruit before? i was out watering mine the other day and noticed a piece of fruit had this odd dark brown spot on it...it was the only one with this so i removed it in fear it was some kind of fungus or something and didnt want it spreading, but i cant find anywhere what it might have been

Your location, specific growing conditions and micro climate plays a factor in how much or how little issues you have. If all you have is one odd fruit with a brown spot, you are doing great and nothing to worry about! :) Disease and Pest pressure is supposed to be lower where I live in Bay Area California but I have had to deal with a lot of issues like shot hole, peach leaf curl, bacterial canker, crown gall, brown rot, to name a few. A simple organic spray schedule has helped me keep most issues under control.
