Went to the dealer because my mirror cap was loose and making a lot of noise while driving. They quote me $530 for the new cap on both mirrors. Perfect video. Thanks a lot i was able to glue back the broken tap holding the cap together saving me a lot of $$$$$

Just finished the driver's and it took me about 30 minutes from start to finish. The diameter of the screwdriver needs to be very small to get behind the mirror and under the tabs for anyone who decides to complete this task.. Couldn't have done this without the video showing each step, thank you!

Hmmm. I have the same truck (2021 GMC Sierra AT4). I had to replace the passenger side mirror due to my stupidity backing up. So, I ordered the entire mirror assembly from GM to replace the damaged mirror (exact same one, OEM). But, it did not come with the inserts. I was able to pop off the old inserts (it wasn't damaged) from the bad mirror and then pop it perfectly into place onto the new mirror without dissembling the mirror like you show in this video. I did a video on my channel. There are only two clips the hold the insert onto the main mirror assembly that can be easily pried open without nicking the plastic if you're careful. I did order color matched ones from GM (Cayenne Red Tintcoat) and will swap out the black ones.

404 parts has these caps with a color match option. I just got some in Downpour Metalic. I like this look better than all black. But either is better than chrome!

Your videos never disappoint Don!! Very informative. I have a problem! I went to a carwash, one of the side rollers that scrubs the side of the vehicle was not working and pushed my mirror closed. Since then the side camera under the mirror is not working. When on birdseye view that side is just dark. I don’t know if i got my point across if so hopefully you can point me to the right direction. Thanks!!

Thanks for sharing. I suspect a wire was snagged or stretched internally, causing the camera to disconnect. If it were me I would partially disassemble it and inspect the wiring and connections

Afternoon sir, I am so glad I found your channel. I live in Georgia and just purchased a new to me 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 Carbon Pro. It is satin steel metallic and started its life in Canada. Your channel has been so helpful because I have some of the same idea's as you for my truck but I'm having a problem and would like your input. On my DIC message center it tells me to check my trailer lights. I can clear the messages by pressing dismiss. The 7 pin plug does not work. I replaced it, the 2 modules above the spare tire also with no luck. It is out of warranty with 39,500 miles. Any help from you or your followers would be greatly appreciated, and thanks again for your content. Ed

Welcome to Donslife! I can’t say I know what your fault message is from but I know when I tried to tap into one of the 7 pin harness wires, I had error messages too. I had tapped it for a cheap tail gate light bar, but once I swapped it out for a quality one from Putco everything worked perfectly. If you’re not the first owner, maybe someone tapped into a wire under there?

Thanks Jason! Both are good choices. Chrome up north pits, rusts or flakes off after a few winters. All of my paint or wrapped parts on my Denali and Wife’s Yukon Denali before my AT4 held up better. Keep watching brother, I appreciate the support!

Worth the time 🤔 Maybe. For the less experienced this method will probably last longer. I wanted to take them apart partly out of curiosity too. People tend to ask me questions on here and when I can, I try to help out. As for the the thumbs down 👎🏽. I get one on almost every video in the first couple hours. Somebody doesn’t like the vids or middle aged dads sharing projects 😂

If you can see the clip retainers, and get a flat pry tool in there (working your way around). You shouldn’t break them.

My 2023 side mirror is lose at the pivot point, kind of wobbly. It’s intact but not sturdy. How do I tighten it so it doesn’t shake or move unless I manually do it?

I can’t recall off the top of my head how much you can adjust the pivot point, but if one side is obviously looser than the other, I would think there is a nylon nut (or something similar) behind the glass that needs to be tightened a little. Otherwise, the dealer might look after it if still under warranty

Is that the Satin or Gloss white vinyl? and did you do the mirror caps and bezels from one sheet of 5' x 2'? I have the same truck but the diesel and have been wanting to do something with the bezels for awhile and definitely prefer the price of wrapping the caps vs buying the GM ones.

I ordered AVERY DENNISON SW900 SUPREME GLOSS WHITE VINYL WRAP | SW900-101-O I didn’t really have any waste with a 1’x5’ sheet. 5’x2’ will give you more than enough and you can make some mistakes and be okay. They white matches good enough in natural light, but on camera under artificial lights, it looks off a bit
