2019 freeman would put the gap on the 2016, double the motors and less drag because of the 2016's gap tower

What made you choose the 37’ Freeman, as opposed to the 34’ or 42’?

I ordered a 34 originally but they talked me into a 37. I was glad I got the 37 in the end, especially since we fish plenty of rough days. I’d love a 42 but not sure if it makes sense chartering here, it’s quite a bit more up front, daily operating costs are more, and I would have to move slips at the marina . Although I would love a 42 when it’s blowing 20 knots or more. We’ll see what happens on the next one

Just curious, how long does a boat like that last in your charter business?

I ran my first charter boat for 6 years which my dad owned, then bought my own 36 twin diesel express and sold it after two years, and then for the first freeman. 3.5 years later I replaced it with a new one. Fortunately the used market on Freeman’s has been very strong since they started.

The boat will last a long time. Its the engines. Freeman's first got popular in Venice, LA where captains run 80 to 100 miles each way to tuna fish. Plus the wait to get a new one is like 2 or 3 years. The resale value on a used Freeman is great. Put one on the market and it will probably sell in a week and the new rich owner will just re-power it.

you don't when the mechanics rig the boat they go out and run it through the break in hours so you can get the boat go

@@chadduplantis8591 yeah that isn't very typical, I work for the company that mounted his motors and we normally will do the break in period ourselves on most of our motor installs and new boats as people typically don't like having to wait 2 hours to actually drive there boat. It just varies upon customer, nick likes doing the break in.

@@chadduplantis8591 just telling you what most people do, also if it's a new boat forget about it, if the mechanics don't do the break in it voids the warranty. Its not even a hands on thing lol you literally just have to drive around at idle speed for an hour and then at just planning speeds for an hour. Most people getting a new boat can't wait to get in it and go, the break in period causes them to not be able to do that.

@@StanzFam Not bad for Freeman! I am on Lake Erie and recently got back into boating. Restored an older 1984 Grady White Seafarer. We have a short season up here, but a ton of walleye and trout. Really enjoy fishing. Will be dragging my setup to Murrels Inlet SC this summer to try our luck on the Atlantic. We've fished down there for decades with a great captain. Well done on all your videos! I'll be checking more of them out.

I was gonna get twin 425 on the new one but they didn’t perform that much better than the 350’s, so I went with the quad 300’s. Freeman was waiting on more prop choices to see if the twin 425’s would make a noticeable difference. If they get them dialed in with props I’m sure the new owners of my old boat would consider it
