I’m driving a 991.2 GT3 Currently Looking to pay up and get the RS Interesting- the aftermarket cost for both the 991.2 RS and the new standard 992 GT3 is virtually identical Despite the new double wishbone suspension I’m going with the older RS - like the older GT3 the car is more compact and more analog- to me this is appealing Not to mention the looks of an RS can’t be beat!!
@Pcarwhisperer7 ай бұрын
Right there with you Keith! I would do the same thing you are looking to do! The 991.2 is my favorite modern 911 👍🏼

@@PcarwhispererFYI I’m now in my new 991.2 RS- having owned both the .2 gt3 and now the RS I can say they are similar- yet not! The RS is faster (probably the lighter weight) and corners better It is rougher on poorly maintained streets though. On the track the RS has the edge too- although the gt3 felt amazing too. Had i the garage space and bank account-‘I’d own both (gt3 with manual) but to own one: the RS is the choice

@@keithrichards-io5dbI’m about to purchase a .2 RS as well. In fact, a lava orange WP just came up a Brooklyn auto sales today and it honestly may be the one for me. Has a roll cage and a Dundon exhaust / headers (I prefer stock), but it comes with the stock parts as well they said. Anyway, I’ve been scouring youtube for comparisons to the 992 gt3, but there are only a few videos directly comparing them and they haven’t given me the info I need haha. Have you driven the 992 gt3? Do you think the double wishbone really makes the front end that much better in the corners? I keep having doubts about my decision to get the .2 RS, but I do think it’s the one for me. The 992 gt3 just has so much hype around it, and experts say it handles even better.
@keithrichards-io5db3 ай бұрын
@@shaunwitzler5482 i haven’t driven the 992 GT3. But I go to the track once a month and have questioned a couple of people who know both cars- one guy is an instructor, advanced driver, who currently drives the 992 GT3. The other guy is also an instructor, but also used to be a columnist for many of the car magazines that you and I probably read. Both have had chance to drive both cars. The first guy said he notices a minor difference but they are pretty evenly matched on the track. The second guy (mag writer) told me he thinks the 991.2 RS is the better car more for its driving feel. As I noted, I came to the conclusion to buy the RS because all things being equal I am not an advanced level track guy. I still drive novice and maybe move into the intermediate group soon and from what both people told me the difference in cars will be unnoticed by me. So because I like the more analogue car and because I just like the looks of the RS way more than the new GT3 I went with the RS. Call me shallow but it’s the looks that had me at hello. I didn’t do the full exhaust like the car you were looking at because I didn’t want something too loud, but I did replace the centre piece which keeps the valves inside exhaust. When you are at the track that car even without the side exhaust replace is plenty loud and screams like a jet engine. I don’t know how that compares to the 992 GT3 as I’ve only heard them from the outside when they went by on the track - but I can tell you that, my instructor (the guy that writes the magazine articles) commented that in his opinion my car is the best sounding car you can get without having a annoying sounding exhaust on the street. I agree - I think it’s amazing.
@keithrichards-io5db3 ай бұрын
@@shaunwitzler5482 I go to the track once a month and have had two instructors Tell me that there is barely any difference in performance between the 992 GT3 and the 991.2 RS. To me then it came down to the looks. In fact, one of the instructors is a magazine columnist for automobile reviews. He told me that he personally prefers the RS in 991.2 era because it’s more analog. to me, it was all about how much better looking the RS is. But that’s really choice of taste not necessarily quantitative or logical. You have to make the decision based on what’s important to you, but I don’t think for most mortals the difference in performance is much different.

Thank you so much for the support 🙏🏼 Holy smokes that's a great line up!! Woow that's a tough one! How do you plan on using the car? Ive always been a 991.2 guy but with how amazingly the 992 GT3 drives I must say this one for me takes the cake specifically a touring model with manual transmission.. I love the overall engagement and just how confident I feel in the car. The 3RS would be a close second as it is the ultimate track toy! The 3RS is quite different from a 992 GT3 Touring so completely is how you plan on using it... track 3RS all day! Last but not least the 4RS overall I love the driving dynamics of how the Cayman Chassis feels as well as the thrilling sound of the 4RS but If I could choose one it would the the GT. Hope this helps... thanks again for the support!

Another super vid. RS = Renn Sport (Racing Sport). Love everything about the car except the Akra exhaust. It’s a Euro company so their products have to meet TuV (German equivalent of our EPA - but much more strict) noise standards, and we all know how strict noise levels are in Germany... Translation: Akra is barely above German OEM exhaust noise/sound levels, so Akra noise/sound, and ear candy is a fail for me. There are much better sounding after market exhausts out there. Trust me, I’ve owned several aftermarket exhausts; Akra (outside of their known great build quality and/or badge recognition) ain’t the bee’s knees when it comes to epic sound levels! Just trying to keep it real. YMMV. Cheers/B

@@Pcarwhisperer In my order of preference: Speed Tech, GMG, Sharkwerks, Fabspeed, and Soul Performance. I’ve owned the first four. All U.S. made. All the above exhausts offer best bang for buck exhaust systems. Things as stupid as moving the start finish line on a historical Raceway are the kinds of things that make me want to give up on life. Why must we screw up everything. Just why... Unbelievable how absurdly stupid that is. Let's just completely destroy our entire frame of reference for every production vehicle we have ever made and have ever had. The world's most recognizable lap time reference changed and is now nothing and means nothing to anyone.. Brilliant. Every metric on all of your favorite cars throughout history that you thought you could reference in some fashion now is useless. One decision destroyed an entire global population of data reference because the Cornerstone has been modified. Definitely a reflection of the times we are in. Idiots roaming everywhere making changes because "progress"
