That is one sweet rig and you have Me rethinking about getting a Lund. I was thinking a 17 ft boat with a 115hp but now you have me thing a 18ft with 150hp. I want a retirement boat that fuel burn is not crazy. My friends run 21ft fiberglass with 300hp motors and I know I do not want that.

You have a badass boat dude! What are those trailer mounts called? I like how the bungee cords hook up to them. What about the Rapala guard in back? One more, where did you get the device that hold your rope at the dock? TIA!
@TheGrumpyFisherman3 жыл бұрын
The splash guards are made by Whitecap Manufacturing. The rope device I got from a local marine vendor. Thanks for watching!

Could I ask which mounts you used for your Lowrance HDS 9? I just bought this fish finder and I'm wondering how I should mount it in my tiller boat. The Ram ball mounts and swing arm mounts seem to have the finders up much higher? Do you like the electronics down lower?
@TheGrumpyFisherman Жыл бұрын
They are Ram mounts. Honestly the best thing to do is sit in your boat and imagine where you want em. Then work backwards. Check fishfinder mounts on amazon to start.

Very sensible setup. Great work. Question regarding the Bimini, I see that it kind of hangs over the starboard rail, does this affect the stock boat cover? or did you have to get a new cover? Or, do you remove it while in transit and does it fit within the Beam dimensions? I just got one for my 175CS , but haven't installed it yet. Thanks.
@TheGrumpyFisherman4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It was a problem. I went to Amazon a couple weeks ago and actually bought stainless mounting harware with a removeable cotter pin. I now remove it and lay it in the boat when trailering. I am not happy with the travel cover anyhow, I may get a custom one made soon.

I remember when you first bought your Competitor 165 tiller and you saying the boat was perfect for your type of fishing....then all of sudden, you upgraded! Awesome boat! Was the 165 too small?
@TheGrumpyFisherman4 жыл бұрын
Too slow. I liked the tiller and considered it again but for this size boat 90 would have been all I could do. A Comp 205 would allow 200 hp but that boat is just too big. Always a compromise!

Question about the boat cover. You put bunjee cords on it for towing....did you do that for extra peace of mind or can you not tow the boat with the cover on? The reason I ask is I am weighing my decision between the Alumacraft and the Lund Impact. Lund has a towable cover that you can get with the boat.
@TheGrumpyFisherman4 жыл бұрын
The cover is made by Dowco. Those straps are actually part of the cover, but the manufacturer supplies nylon straps that vibrate in the wind and rub the boat. The bungee cords eliminated the vibration but since this video I have found they wear out anyhow. I have changed back to a nylon adjustable strap now that I can tighten. Not all covers come with these straps. I wouldn't buy based on the cover, there are different manufacturers of covers and you can work with your dealer to get a different cover with snaps etc. Thanks for watching!

What mount did you use for your bow graph? I'm debating if I want to mount mine on the vertical wall like that or just mount in on the deck. I'll have a helix 12.
@TheGrumpyFisherman3 жыл бұрын
It's a RAM 1.5 inch ball mount. There's tons of options out there. For a 12 inch I would go with a 2 or 2 1/4 inch ball.

Hey just asking for the money you spent on this boat you could’ve bought a bass boat. What do you think made you choose one over the other I’m wanting to get a deep v or bass boat but stuck on which one is best for me
@TheGrumpyFisherman4 жыл бұрын
I'm Canadian so you'd have to convert my numbers. Bass boats are less veratile in rough water than a v-hull. My buddy has a z21, they are built 99% for casting. They are also 6 figure boats, you can get one like mine for half that
@charlesronk29893 жыл бұрын
I have an older smaller fiberglass Nitro bass boat. Although it has been the best purchase I have ever made. It was only $5,000 when it was 4 years old back in 1996. I could never afford even a $15,000 boat today, and It would cost that just to accessorize. This being said if you are a multi-species angler I would not go with a Bass Boat. As suggested they are designed strictly for casting. Electric trolling motors are not good for long use trolling. Even though they are called trolling motors. The low draw of a bass boat makes it difficult to slow with the main engine enough to troll and there is no room for a kicker.

@@kyle8079 you'll have to play around a bit. Every boat is loaded different. I get about 5650 with a 19p. Some like to hit 6000 rpm so if thats the case I'd have to drop to 18 probably. I've also used a 20p 4 blade that gave me 5350.
