For those of you who are wondering what programs I used for editing/animation, I used After Effects for the 2D animation, Cinema4d for the 3d Animation, and Adobe Premiere to edit the video together. But it's also important to remember that animation isn't a criteria to make a good video; plenty of other winners/finalists have used other methods to make their videos special. I revere all my teachers and enjoy their lessons, but I can’t really say that a particular teacher inspired me, though they all inspire me to explore.

I have been getting anxiety because I don't know how to edit videos and what to use. Does anyone have any tips on how to cope?? I suppose I'm so used to getting the bad end of the stick

Trust me there are so many resources online. A good free one for animating is Krita and a “general purpose” one is HitFilmExpress. Look up tutorials on KZbin.

I've been editing videos for close to a decade and it's fully self teachable using youtube. I highly highly recommend adobe premiere pro cc for general purpose editing, while adobe after effects is for adding 3d renderings and special effects. They work great together and you will find a ton of tutorials on youtube on either one.

Is background,and animation really matters in the video?

Personally, I don't believe that background and animation are the parts that matter in the video. What really matters is how you explain your topic and appealing you make science to be. I chose to go the animation route with my video, but plenty of other winners/finalists used other methods to get their point across. Remember, just be creative and enjoy the process!
