Sant Andreu Jazz Band is a good introduction to jazz. They seem to focus mainly on Dixieland, swing, and bossa nova, which are all easily accessible jazz styles for most people. Enjoy your journey, whether you travel on to explore Bebop and Cool and other forms of jazz, or if you stay here with these styles. There is no wrong choice.

Another gtand slam for Joan. The arrangement reminds me a little of Marty Paich. Jazz enthusiasts should know of Marty Paich. He was a west coast band leader with a ten piece band with a unique sound. Andrea nailed this song and she just gets better and better as she ages.

I knew that Carla had left. That Jan and Elia have also left is news to me, when did they leave? Although it had to happen sometime, it still leaves a twinge of sadness. Good luck to them in the future , hope they continue in jazz and return to play as guest artists with the SAJB.

I take my information from their blogspot which is rather reliable in showing who's in and who's out. And, even though the numbers have been discontinued long ago, I assume that the sorting of the active members is by age, from young to old in each section.

Maybe someone from the band will confirm it but I think Carla and Elia officially left in December but will continue to perform as guest artistes in the way Andrea has done for the last couple of years. This enables them to pursue their own projects and makes way for new, younger 'students' of course.

All these singers who have left the group will appear on the Magic of the Voice 3 CD. Previous M of V singing groups have also performed as a separate group before. Don't be surprised if Joan forms a group with them.

The Joan Chamorro New Quartet is such group, which I saw in November with Carla, Elia, Alba A and Joan, with Scott Hamilton as special guest. Not to mention Andrea who just came to watch and went on stage for a couple of numbers at the end!!

There is Jamie Cullum's version of "In the Wee Small Hours ..." arranged for winds and I think it was a very refreshing an approach [kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3mQpXqon82WqK8]. Monne is one of the hidden stars of SAJB. This wind work here is really nice. I have always liked Andrea M, but in this more recent recording she seems much better: smoother and pronouncing English words better. She is truly talented , playing two instruments and singing. All of Joan C. presentations are amazing. His talents and enthusiasm are remarkable.

Besides being a wonderful singer, Andrea is drop-dead gorgeous. She appears to be well-grounded and unpretentious. That's a huge part of her beauty. She has a bright future as does the entire group.

Andrea Motis fulfils Richard Rodgers' insistence that this should be sung like a waltz, while Monne's wonderful arrangement keeps the jazz idiom too. As with all SAJB interpretations, this keeps the old sparkling song fresh and vital. Champagne recently uncorked. A truly marvellous performance.

It's absolutely astonishing to see how far Andrea has developed as a singer over just the past couple of years. Has the touring played a role in that? If that's the case, she'll be out of this world in a few years. A couple of days ago l saw some comment that Andrea was not properly dressed to project stage presence. What utter nonsense!!! In the first place, Andrea is as much a delight for the eye as she is for the ear. In the second place, anyone with that type of massive talent will command the stage no matter what. Andrea, please do what you're doing with gusto; you look great and you sound great. You're one of a kind and you definitely are on my bucket list. You're wonderful!

Such a tasteful and interesting arrangement (only the SAJB sax section), with wonderful guests, and Andrea's perfect vocals. For people wanting to know what a smooth, easy-going jazz number sounds like, this is a pretty good place to start!
