@MikesCarInfo The first issue only affects the 19 and halfway through 20 models. The heater core housing is weak. Understand I had the first one that hit the streets in my part of state. It hit the showroom a week earlier. Within 10k, the vents jammed, and the first time I turned AC on, hellfire came out the vents. They had to pull the dashboard. At 60k, and yes, my warranty expired, the vents stuck again. It's now going to cost 1700 to repair. 2nd and even bigger issue the transmission. There is a class action suit, but im sure you heard. At 60k, it started delaying in the shifting and losing power. The turbo is pointless now. I won't get into the initial problems from factory to many.

I am seriously considering one since Ford is getting rid of their good cars. The gas mileage is great and the tank is huge. It has majority of the features I am looking for also. My two options right now are the Lincoln MKZ and this. Both the Ranger and MKZ are $38k within $40 of each other.

Great walkthrough. I just test drove one yesterday and they are awesome little trucks. The seating position is fantastic and the seats are hands down the most comfortable I have ever plunked my ass in. I ordered a lariat sport fx4 and now have to impatiently wait.I do have to laugh at some of the comments complaining about the price and saying they would just get an f150. Get yourself an f150 with all these options and its alot more than the ranger. You want cheaper then look at a lower trim package.

How tall/heavy are you? I'm 6'4" and 275 and wondering if I'll fit. Is the inside about the same as the Explorer? I have an F-150 and it's very comfy inside but the truck is just too big! I miss my old 2003 F-150 it was perfect. Wish the Ranger was about 90% the size as that one.

It is interesting to see the differences between the US Version to what we get here in NZ and Aussie. The main ones I can see are the Full Steel Bumpers.Led Taillights and of course the Petrol Engine. We have 3 Diesel Engines ranging from a 2.2 4 cylinder.3.2 5 Cylinder and a 2.0 Twin Turbo 4 Cylinder mated to the same 10 speed box as yours. The other 2 have 6 speed boxes. The Rear End is way better overall as all 3 PX versions from the PX1 introduced in 2011 to PX2 in 2015/2016 to the PX3 bought out in OCT 2018 all look pretty much the same from the back.

@@Jeff-or6em Highly doubt that. The full size still have allot more margin on them. But I can see possibly 4 to 5K dollar discounts in maybe a year or at year end but I doubt it. You will probably be lucky to see half of that amount discounted. With dealer discounts added you may get closer to 4K All depends on capacity at plant and demand. Dealers are telling me demand is very high right now and once they hit the lots I think demand will climb again. Allot of Ford fans been waiting on this truck for years and they have been talking about bringing this back for years. To say there is pent up demand is an understatement. But in the case of GM/Toyota they have never discounted 10K off. Especially toy.

I’ve driven two of these and love the handling and power. You guys bitching about the price need to know you can buy much cheaper by adjusting the options. They always review the most expensive models so they can show you all the details. I’ve ordered one and can hardly wait to get my hands on it. Super crew, XL, 4x2, STX package, splash guards, running boards, trailer tow package, Ford Co-pilot 360, electric locking axle and I didn’t even mention items included with the XL package. All just slightly over 34k with tax and all dealer charges included.

@@Jeff-or6em The T6 has always been a single wheelbase. Even overseas rangers are the same. So if you want 6 foot box you get the extended cab. People do have a reason to gripe however. Nissan, GM, and Toyota all offer an optional 6 foot bed with their mid size crew cabs. So in this regards, Ford is the only manufacturer to NOT offer one. Even my 2002 Nissan Frontier had a 6 foot box and was a crew cab. I can see this definitely being a show stopper issue for those not wanting a full size but also wanting a bigger box. In fact, my old Nissan frontier 4 door, long box fit in my last garage. Just barely. Most garages will not fit a full size regardless of make. And this is still a major draw to mid size. Beats having morons breaking into your truck at night and watching it age in a few years under the hot New Mexico sun. If I lived on a farm, and had a big tractor shed I'd have a full size truck. But for what I do and for most's people's needs, a full size truck is overkill.

@@nodak81 One of the big draws to driving a truck is the ride height and the use of body on frame construction. Plus the ability to off road is considerably better then a minivan. Probably your best off roaders are mid size with the tacoma Pro, GM's Zr2, and the Ranger FX 4. Full sizers cannot compete on the narrow roads/rock climbing etc.. Not even remotely so. Your view is incredibly narrow in scope and applies to your own needs no doubt. Plus these newer mid sizers can easliy tow more then what an older full size could. Don't assume the only reason to buy a truck is what you can load into the box. You probably also think the world is still flat? Open your eyes.

My grandpa used to have a brown ford ranger back in the 90’s. One day my mom drove it and she got it into an accident and either she hit a street sweeper or they ran into her. My grandpa got it fixed not that long after and then once my uncle drove it he totaled it. Ever since then my grandpa is on his 4th F-150. It was a 97 or 98 model and then in 2005 he got an 05 model. And then 2011 he got a 2011 model. And then in 2018 he got the newest F-150 with the aluminum body redesign. His is in the blue jeans color and has 16 or 17,000 miles now and he bought it new with 50 miles. He got an XLT but it doesn’t have much options as opposed to an XLT with the sport package. I wish he got a 2017 model with more options so he wouldn’t have to pay a lot for one that didn’t have much options on it. Doesn’t even have the sync 3 touchscreen with navigation. And then he was saying how is 2011 model had Sirius XM radio and then his 2018 didn’t have it and he was like I didn’t know what options I wanted or needed when I was buying one. My grandparents are big time ford fans and have almost always owned a ford. My grandma used to own a 2005 Taurus se and then had a 2010 Camry LE which I have now and she owns a 2016 Fusion SE ruby red technology package. Fusion is a leased car and has almost 42,000 miles now and is on a 3 year 36k mile lease but now that it’s over that she might have to pay extra but the car is up in April of 2019 so we’ll see what she gets next, hoping a 2019 Fusion, Escape, edge, or explorer. There will be probably no way they won’t get another new car that isn’t a ford especially my grandpa once the Fusion is up on its lease. Maybe they should get the new ranger. But my grandma doesn’t like trucks. She might end up keeping the Fusion and buying it out.

The XLT definitely the best looking of the bunch. But not a fan of what Ford did to the front end. But the XLT with sport package is by far the best looking trim. Even the XL STX package looks better then the lariat. The Lariat is just ugly. Unfortunately, only the Lariat can be configured with leather. And worse yet, only the Lariat can be ordered with the new B&O stereo. And it requires it to be a crew cab as well. So if you want those two things (like me) then your forced to pay over 40K. One, I won't pay that much. Two, I won't pay over 40K for an ugly truck. I'm getting a Colorado LT fully loaded instead. Ford really screwed up what otherwise is a great truck overseas (T6).

Thanks for the video, here is my take. I keep posting this because I was buyer's to know this and I want Ford to know that they have taken advantage of their customer base. The relatively new to the US market Ford Ranger is a mediocre vehicle. This is due to the manufacturer’s lack of both ethical and sensible business practices. I speak from first hand experience, having purchased a 2019 Lariat crew cab. There is a great amount of irony associated with this critique because this truck has a lurking potential for greatness. Just look at it, then drive it, it is impressive. It delivers a ride that a full size pick-up just can not match. So what’s my gripe? One engine no options and there should be, even though the stock engine performs just fine. The same applies to having a stick shift available. The rear seat is one piece a folding seat adds so much versatility. The bed lacks all the extras that make your truck functional, and the tailgate just flops down, without the easy access system. Inside the Lariat trim is not a Lariat trim, it isn’t even an XLT. Missing are memory seat function for two, vertical power seat adjustment, heated steering wheel, power sliding rear window. You will see all of your gripes addressed on the next Gen Ranger IMHO. Tail gate can be easily damped with aftermarket mod. Tail gate is light regardless. At the end of the day it’s still better than my old Frontier and the Gen 3 Tacoma and the Chevy. Tried them all and they all have pros and cons. You just have to come to terms with what works for you and what issues that you mentioned you can live with or not live with. For me I’m not going to let a non automatic sliding rear window, bench seat or minor bed issues deter me from buying this truck. For me the pros outweigh the minor cons. This truck will be even better in the future when it’s better engineered . There will also be more engine options

Like to also add that the OP did not show is that when you fold the rear seat forward is all one piece. Do not have a 60/40 split or anything like that. Plus, even more annoying is the seat does not remotely fold flat but is in a oblique position. Which IMO, makes it worthless to try to haul stuff inside. When I had my ranger overseas I quickly realized there was no point, zero to fold the seat forward. In this regard, the ranger is the worst in class. The colorado folds flat and also has a 60/40 split. I can see this being very useful. The tacoma also folds flat and in one piece I believe.

IMO, the XLT trim looks best with the sports package. In the Xl the STX is not too bad. Unfortunately, you can't get leather or the upgraded B&O stereo in the XLT trim. Not caring one bit for the looks of the lariat or the front end in general on what they did to the global T6. I owned a 2014 XLT in Fiji and preferred the looks to that over this. I was seriously considering the American Ranger until I saw how they bundled the options. This truck ended up being more money then I cared to spend. Not happy that Ford bundles to make the buyer buy the most expensive trim to get some popular options like leather/and stereo. GM, on the other hand has more flexible prices for options and they are spread across the LT, Z71 and ZR2. Never considered a Colorado but after test driving it a few times I was really impressed. And this coming from a ex owner of a global Ranger. I'm seeing some real MPG numbers coming out of this little eco boost and its not much better if at all over GM's 3.6 VVT V6. Plus the Colorado looks allot better IMO. Not happy with Ford what they ended up giving us in the US after all these years. And GM' had 5 years fixing and optimizing the Colorado. And that they did. There were many issues back in 15/16. But I have more confidence with GM's mid sizer for reliability long term then Ford's brand new Truck. Sure its been out since 2012 overseas but there is allot of changes here that give me pause. Especially the forced induction and highly boosted little motor. GM's product gives just as good throttle response without any turbo lag. And that is zero lag being its still naturally aspirated. Needless to say I've got a custom Colorado LT that will be built.

@@jasonsuthern6326 I worked in the car business for 3 years for Ford actually between 2013-2016 and I can tell you that in 2019 the average price of an f150 with similar specs is around $ 7500 more today than it was back then. There are also less rebates on the trucks and less financing deals to go with it. Most trucks are leaving lots today for either an 84 month term or 96 months and that is outrageous. Trucks used to be a staple of the middle class buyer but now they have almost become like travel trailers/campers in that they are luxury items. They have left the buyers behind that helped put them where they are today, end rant.

I tried so hard to get the Chevy Colorado Z71 when it first came out. It was just too much. I like features. The Work Truck ranger is set to be at $25k base model. Which I see it for city work trucks and fleet.

It's a false market created by dealerships. They order the trucks with the high end, high margin packages because they know you'll come onto the lot and buy it. Why? Because you're too self-gratifying to order a baseline truck with modest options and wait 8-10 weeks for delivery.

What it is a great looking truck it is just way to expensive. Even the base model is high in my opinion based on the standard features. I guess that is the auto world we live in.

Michigan Assembly were this new Ranger is produced just added 2 more shifts and will work 7 days a week to produce this Ranger. Ford cannot keep up with demand. Every Ranger made is a sold unit!

Yeah, have to agree with others... for that price point just get a F150 and have two balls instead of one. Currently own a 2018 F150 4x4 and it's got more balls than any vehicle I've ever owned. If you're gonna get a truck might as well get something that's more capable. Even if you're just going camping with your ATV here and there... if it's the same price, why not get the more powerful truck?

@@Jeff-or6em This is why Ford took too long to bring the Ranger back. They felt it was too close in price point to the full size. But with GM selling well over 150K Colorados a year and Toyota pushing over 20K tacoma's every month Ford could not deny the mid size market. But IMO, all those giant F150's look like ass in about 5 years because they are always parked outside and oxydating away. One of the nice things is when you own a home you can park your car inside (I just sold a 2005 pathfinder that looked new because it was always parked inside). The F150 is took big to do that. Unless you build a custom home and oversize garage. If I lived on a farm or in the country where I really needed the capacity I can see why full size would be more practical. But most people just drive these in urban environments on tar seal roads. I think its more about wanting to ride higher and being bigger. They also offer globs of room inside as well. They are indeed very popular with most. But not me. Don't want to drive a motor home everywhere.

At this price a full size would seem like the way to go, but this thing is basically fully loaded at that price. You'd be missing a few features on the F-150 for that price range and especially for the XLT Trim.

@@bourbon.36 I think more importantly is that the new ranger is running about 4-5K more in all trims over comparable Toyoto tacoma offroad or Chevy Zr2 / Z71 which are also great trucks. Sure this is a pretty good truck but it has its weaknesses. First the back seat does not fold flat.. only at an angle making it useless. The eco motor is already showing crappy MPG's city. These motors on boost take gas. I'm hearing around 20-21 mpg overall which is right about what a Z71 gets. Colorado has bigger box. No dampened tail gate and no leather or upgraded stereo on other trims on the Ranger. Only the lariat which drives up the cost. Ford likes to compare this to full size prices because the price point does not hold up when compared to the competition in the mid size. Not even remotely so. But shoppers will soon see where the best values are. And its isn't this. I can see rebates in the future. Dealers are already cutting up to 2K on these. They are priced too high to compete.

Your definitely correct. I hear that all the time online. People want the old ranger back etc.. Unfortunately, the margins are not as good and probably why they don't want to make it. Less profitable. However, the Koreans, and Ford are working on Unibody type of small pickups. I know its not as good as body on frame but I'm pretty certain will be seeing those in the next couple of years. Ford is already committed to it. If those sell well then who know, maybe somebody will build a small body on frame pickup. The other problem is we still have the chicken tax which costs oems 25 percent tariff to import trucks. That is a big reason why you don't see any smaller overseas trucks sold here. Everything you see is build here.

@@ussconcordiah9506 Yes Ford is hinting maybe 2022. It will be based on the focus. So yes, a small unibody type of truck that drives like a compact car. Nothing I would be interested in. It's like hell freezing over to get somebody to make another body on frame compact truck. But personally, after owning my 2014 Ranger overseas I'm not interested in compact trucks. I think the Ranger is the most compact of the bunch that is currently offered. I ordered a colorado because I love the dead on steering it has. Drives like a full size. They are really well made. After the ford dealer threw a huge number at me on a pre order I told them they are nuts. And went to the chevy dealer lol.
