Before I start. I still believe Ford fiesta was the best of the lot in its time, don't know why they never bothered upgrading it in India. I have driven both ciaz and city on long distances the petrol ones, and trust me when the speed limit is 100 and 120 in our country, 5 bhp of power makes almost no difference. The Ciaz has a longer wheel base and bit softer suspension than city, which mean it will feel smoother on bumpy roads. City feels a bit more engaging, but if you really need a fun to drive car one should go for a rapid or vento (now slavia). The feel of the leather seats is not much of a difference in both the cars, the thud sound there reviewers keep talking about is also not much of a difference. Ciaz rear seat is extremely comfortable when compared to city when you have three passengers at the back, the reason being almost flat floor. Ground clearance is better in ciaz. The City interior feels much more premium when compared to Ciaz. But most of the touch points on Ciaz is leather. Feature wise they are neck and neck apart from the sunroof in City and fewer air bags in Ciaz. Ciaz is the most value for money and spacious C2 segment sedan. If you often travel full packed(5 people) Ciaz would feel better compared to any of the sedans in competition. Although the new Slavia is longer it is still a bit cramped with three seated at the back. City is more no doubt more premium and if you travel 4 people most of the time City would be a great choice. If looking at other cars in the segment I feel VW and Skoda are more of a driver focused fun to drive car, if you do love to drive and are ok with once in a while big expenditure in case something fails(not that they are unreliable just that the parts cost more, almost double) just go for VW of Skoda. If you are in tier 2 or tier 3 cities do not even look at the Chez and German siblings, you will find only one Service center in the city that too some 30 KM away from home. Everything I mentioned is from my own experience, I used to own a 2010 Verna 1.6 petrol which was the most powerful of the lot. Verna still packs more power. But never liked the steering wheel. Have driven City, Rapid, Fiesta owned by friends. Currently drive a Ciaz petrol.

Everyone complains about thigh support for rear seats. But the thigh supports have been made kept in mind the ladies who are usually much shorter and hence they find good thigh support. If the seat base gets longer, then they will be inconvenienced during travel. I believe a shorter seat base is workable for taller people by adjusting their position. No one sits in one position for a long drive. This goes for all cars not just Ciaz or City.

Verna might be a good diesel car for many but Verna has pathetic leg space in rear seats. What is the use of a car which is not comfortable? City's engine noise is bearable and city is definitely a better all rounder.

I also drove ciaz, but ciaz could not match the performance with city. Verna has good performance but no comfort in rear seats.

Ashish Gautam aww you don't need to own one to hear the sound...drive it for a good 300kms which I did hence I know. Yes power is there but sound in that City is unacceptable. Ciaz is a tin can never a fan of it. Verna is awesome. I am a petrol head and of the opinion that Government should ban diesel cars for pvt use 😁.. These sedans are going to phase out from our market very soon.. Nobody will buy these when BS6 comes out as it makes Diesel engines more costly.

Lalit if you are buying a petrol honda city then go for bs 4 as this can even run on bs 6 petrol which will be mandatory by april 2020. If you are going for a diesel version, then please note diesel cars can only be used for 10 years as you are aware and though you may get discounts on bs 4 model the car will be valid for 10 years. As for petrol you can use it for more than 10 years and it has nice power which is around 120bhp. You are getting nice discount on bs 4 model. Do I would suggest a city petrol version bs 4 model as you will be getting discount and you can use it for a long time. Good Day...
