sad to see those we have lost. but so happy we were lucky enough to see those who were in front of the camera, Good memories especially Geoff Harvey with his sketch doing the ferret owner wearing his knacky twine trousers, always brings a smile to my face, and Mike Willesee gave us a few good laughs as well as great stories . RIP to all of them

Geoff was a master of music and what a very funny man! We lost some legends this year. Mike, Bill and Geoff. Sad to see Penny Cook up there, too young!

I would NOT rate Bill Collins with Geoff Harvey or Mike Willessee. I believe that history owes only the truth to the dead. Harvey was a great musician and natural comic who really helped "make" The Mike Walsh Show and subsequent Midday Show in spite of the latter having pretty ordinary hosts who could not hold a candle to Mike Walsh in such a role. Station TCN has lost a genius. TV journalism lost the brilliance that was Mike Willessee but Bill Collins does, or did not deserve to be among them. Collins was NO movie critic. He would "praise to the heavens" movies of all degrees of quality, from the "absolutely brilliant" to the "utter crap". To be a PROPER movie presenter/critic, you have to be prepared to praise the worthy movies but also savagely "rip apart" the crap movies. Collins would, in his career, give heaps of praise to movies that rightly belonged on the garbage heap.

Neil Forbes each to their own I guess. I’m not sure Bill would have considered himself a movie critic, more of a film buff that enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of the golden age of movies. He presented movies to viewers for over four decades on our television screens, was honored into the TV week hall of Fame, and was one of the few in this tribute to be heard talking. I for one still think he was a legend that will be missed. Alongside the other greats of their craft.

@@wesstkilda Even a "Film Buff" would draw the line at praising movies that should be condemned as rubbish. Whether you're an afficionado or just the casual viewer, the great movies will deserve praise while the "cinema dregs" will be consigned to the rubbish bin of cinema history.

As to the rest of the Logies, Tom Gleeson was right when he joked at the opening that it would be the last-ever, it certainly SHOULD be! As Australian TV has sunk so low that only the cash-strapped ABC and SBS are producing ANY worthy Australian content. The commercial stations are too busy producing utter shit in game shows and utterly-contrived "reality(?)" shows that DON'T DESERVE ANY RECOGNITION AT ALL!!! And Gleeson's own stupid gimmicky stunt to win the gold logie has reduced the value of that award to ABSOLUTE ZERO. Indeed, this year's Logies should be THE LAST-EVER!

This comment very nearly came true. The Logies were cancelled 2020 and 2021.
Mike Willessee NEVER worked for Channels 7, 9 or 10. Rather he worked for the STATIONS that transmitted on those channels. He worked for Station TCN at Willoughby, Station ATN located at Epping until more recent times, and Station TEN located at Lane Cove, though by rights that station's call-sign should've been UTN(UT for United Telecasters Ltd., station owners). No-one EVER works for a "channel" because channels have NO physical presence whatsoever. They are ethereal.
