I have an older Montana Mountaineer (2005). I've Never measured it but I was told that it's 36 feet. Owned by a retired couple that used it "half dozen times" and kept it in a pole barn. Never had a pet in it. You walk in and it looks like it did when it was in the showroom. Immaculate. 3 slides, No leaks, no smells, everything works. What sold me on it was the like new condition and the seperate living room floor plan.

Beautiful rig... 1. We have an "auto-grade" windshield in the cap of our rig (and, didn't want to buy one without). However, after our first cold winter desert night, the window has been covered by bubble reflective insulation since, as the windshields REALLY let the cold and heat in - FYI). We also cut them out for every window size after that and install behind the shades nightly which saves a ton of propane in the winter. Every morning out they come and roll up nicely for storage. 2. The stairs don't get dirty or wet (when they are deployed)? How is that? THEN, you fold the dirty sandy/muddy/wet stairs into your rig. Yuck! We know the reality of the new steps - nice, but the truth - FYI. #SalesLingo

Well, you’ll ALWAYS be tethered by an extension cord or running the generator. No biggie... these are meant for RV campgrounds or secondary long term camping spots.

@@MsTeck883 - A normal electric fridge (not the newer 12v type) with a compressor will run a few hours on a battery, 5-6 if you have two. So without some sort of cord, you aren’t doing a whole lotta camping. 🙃

@@MsTeck883 - True, but correct me if I’m wrong, you’ll go through a 20 pound propane tank in less than a day? I only say that because the one we had as a kid would not go all weekend on 2 tanks of propane.

Wow, we bought a Cougar travel trailer from Camping World and since day one, our a/c unit trips the breaker. We took it back to Camping World and they had it over the weekend and could not find anything wrong. When they called us on Monday and told me they found nothing wrong, I went to pick it up and noticed it was outside in the lot. I just happened to ask one of the technicians if it was ready to go and he looked at me with a puzzled look and asked if I had changed my mind about having the a/c checked and that they were getting ready to plug it in and run it to see what was wrong with it. I said I thought they had already checked it and was told no because the service dept was closed on the weekend. Long story short the person that called had never checked it out. I confronted the manager about this and was told that they would take care of it. After all that, they could not get the a/c to trip, so I took it home plugged it in and turned on the a/c, about 20 minutes later the breaker flipped. I took it to a different RV dealer and they found that the wires were completely fried and had to order a new breaker panel as well as replace the wires. We were told that we were lucky that it didn't catch fire because the wires were fried and most of the wires were bare where the protective coating had melted off at some point in time. We have had other problems with Camping World. We have several friends that have had negative experiences with Camping World also.

I looking for my first RV. Can my 2014 F150 with a V8 tow this? What about through the Rockies?
@billalbright20655 жыл бұрын
A trailer of this size and weight, should be towed with a dually pickup truck! This unit weighs just over 16,000 lbs. As a matter of fact I think this trailer exceeds the towing capacity of my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado dually 496cuin. (8.1L ) gas engine. Allison transmission. You may need to consider a diesel dually truck.
@northerniltree5 жыл бұрын
Dually with a diesel it is. I need a newer truck, anyway. Can I tow this with a regular driver's license, generally speaking? I would really like to own a Montana!!!
@billalbright20655 жыл бұрын
@@northerniltree yes you can operate that setup with a regular drivers license. In California you can operate a motor vehicle 26,000 lbs or less and doesn't have air brakes. I'd imagine most states have similar regulations. I think you're supposed to be 50 ft or less in total truck and trailer length also. The other thing to consider is that all dually trucks are longbed, which is whats recommended for that trailer. I have a 2007 37ft Keystone Everest with 4 slides. It weighs around 15,000 lbs and my truck tows it great.
@philsalsbery99945 жыл бұрын
@@billalbright2065 I have a 2018 Montana 3560RL which is 39 feet long and weighs 15,000 lbs fully loaded (13,200 dry). I tow it with my 2017 RAM 3500 single rear wheel 6'4" bed Mega Cab Cummins / Aisin, with no problems. These newer trucks are so incredibly capable. Exhaust brake on and in tow haul mode, I can barely feel that 5th wheel behind me, and rarely tap the brakes while descending hills. I use the Reese Sidewinder 19K pin box which moves the pivot point back up under the nose of the 5th wheel for max turn radius and super smooth ride. The pin box is an extra $1500 but affords safety and maintains my access to the Ram Boxes which are super convenient. Dually is great for tow only, but not so great for daily driver in congested southern California like my truck is. Nice of you to share the 26,000 pound weight limit, as so many guys just go purchasing without the correct research. I spent 2 years researching my new truck and 5th wheel package to ensure safety and reliability. By the way, we love our Montana Legacy Package 5th wheel with full body paint. It cost a lot as a special order, but we don't want to be upgrading every few years. Thanks again, Bill.

Gerald Smith I bought a Cardinal by Forest River. This rig has all rack and pinion slides. Almost everything they do is done with quality and thought. My 3250 RL is so nice. A residential refrigerator with enough batteries (Trojan 6volt x4) and another inverter makes this an amazing when I am traveling and boondocking. Warren Buffet owns Forest River and you get his company owned a Serta Mattress(so comfortable.) Then I use 2000 watt gen just to charge converter. That way refer, coffee , micro. can be used most the time with no generator noise!
