If I had to highlight just one thing in favour of the Kymco Like, it would be that it has two, front shock absorbers over that of the new 2019 Vespa which has only *one* . Maybe it's just me, but I can't help but think, that only having one side of a front wheel secured by one shock absorber/fork, that it will at times, be subjected to reasonable size pothole/s, and wouldn't be able to take the forces at play, whereas a wheel having both ends of it's axle secured by two shock absorbers/forks would have to fare better. Just as an aside, I feel one does not have total control if your legs are facing forward, as is the case for most all scooters. Some years ago, [ make that many years ago ], I owned a 1959 Triumph Bonneville, and a dear friend of mine had a Lambretta motor scooter. We would always meet up for drinks every Friday, and he asked me on one occasion if I'd ever rode a scooter. I told him, no I haven't, and so he asked me if I'd like to take his for a spin. No problem I said. So off I go, and where we were, the the road had a few sweeping curves, that was a joy to lay the Trumpie into. Well, I have to tell you that I'd been riding for years, and at one time I'd laid it that low into a hard left corner, that my left footrest was shaved down to the steel. Now, taking this scooter into a sweeping corner, I had an uneasy feeling that it would fall over. It didn't of course, but the experience, to me anyway, was so very different when cornering sitting astride a bike. As age is catching up me, and the Triumph having moved on to other owners decades ago, I'm interested in looking for some extra cheap transport, rather than using the car, and am attracted to this Kymco scooter, but if I do decide to buy it, I reckon I'll fit some outrider foot pegs, that'll give me that riding astride attitude. Either that or maybe use the pillion footrests. Cheers everyone,safe riding...
