2019 Mazda Miata Club, SCCA C-Street Autocross, Mussleman Go-Kart Track Race Winning Runs!

Hey everyone, here is another SCCA autocross event with the Arizona Border Region at the Mussleman Honda Kart circuit in Tucson AZ with my 2019 Mazda Miata Club. Here are my fastest runs as I compete against some extremely quick National Champion drivers in cars such as a BMW M2, Chevy Camaro SS1LE, Chevy Corvette C7 Z06 and more!

Great job. How do your times compare to some of the other cars? Camaro 1LE for instance. I mean totally different class of car but on a tight course like this I wonder if you aren't able to put better lap times than the Camaro and Corvette etc.

If you look in the description of this video I provided a link for results. On that page you can click on the driver's name to see the times of each run. There is a column for "fastest" which is our fastest run, and then next to it is a column called "PAX". PAX is a handicapping system similar to Golf to provide somewhat of a "theoretical" overall result against cars from other classes. At this event we get 4 competition runs, then 4 "time-only" runs that don't count towards championship points...scroll down the page to see the time-only results. As you can see I went a little quicker than all but the Z06 on raw time, but with the PAX factor I came out on top. The two things that helped make this possible were A) I ran later in the day than the super fast drivers in the C7 Z06 and Camaro SS1LE, it was warmer and the course got faster as the day went on. B) The course was pretty tight and transitional in places which is an advantage for a small nimble car like the Miata :)

@@fastpaxSCR thank you for the detailed response. Your channel is making me consider the ND Miata and furthermore considering doing autocross or similar down here in South Florida where I live. I've never raced a car officially per se but I've been in countless high speed chases as a police officer lol. I figure it's a similar thrill and maybe the skillset is somewhat transferable from one to the other lol 😆. It's probably a lot like racing except the bad guy makes up the course as he goes and there is a ton of other slower drivers in your way. 👍🏻🇺🇲

What is flashing on the infotainment screen? Does the safety gear ever freak out from driving autocross? TC ever turn itself on?

That is when the frame rate of the camera is different than that of the infotainment display, very common to see this in videos...the screen is not doing that to the naked eye. I've never had any safety gear issues or the trac/stability turn itself back on in an Miata (and I've driven them all). This can be an issue on some cars (Chevy/GM for example), but not Mazda products.
