It's the same V12 since 2003 and that's oldest and technically less advanced and less efficient engine of the current Mercedes engines line-up. 16 years old !!!

Even if I'm a huge fan of Mercedes I don't think they've made enough efforts with Maybach to catch-up Bentley and Rolls-Royce. - The instrument cluster is the same as a diesel S350d with a classic 260 km/h speedometer - The wood trim, paint and leather color options are the same as a regular S-class - The two-tone paint option doesn't match with the S-class body design - a 18 year old V12 engine without any direct injection or an intelligent turbo management system which any modern 4 cylinder Mercedes has - a 15 year old 7G Tronic gearbox already replaced by the 9G Tronic in all models except the V12 engines While on the other hand if you look at Bentley's new line-up with the new Continental and the next Flying Spur : - Bentley's version of the virtual cockpit with a 360 km/h speedometer - A huge collection of hand-crafted wood trim, paint and leather color options and even more with Mulliner - A two-tone paint option that matchs perfectly the design of each model. Bonet and fender are painted of two separate colors. - Latest generation W12 engine with direct injection, twin-scroll turbochargers, cylinder deactivation, 8 speed dual-clutch gearbox, 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel steering.

@@legioner9 You're correct but the previous Maybach was a commercial failure. So they've came up with a different strategy turning Maybach into a sub-brand of S-class models like AMG. The idea makes sense but unlike the AMG's which have their own sporty identity I didn't felt in the Maybach the level of luxury that we would expect from Bentley or Rolls-Royce and thought that an AMG S63 could also be a perfect luxury limousine without sacrificing its sporty characteristics. That'w why instead of a Maybach I would rather pick a : - The new Bentley Flying Spur (for all the reasons that I've mentioned in the previous comment) - AMG S63 because it's the best S-class : a V8 engine which is modern, powerful, light and sporty. Working with a latest generation 9 speed dual-clutch gearbox and 4 wheel drive. Exclusive AMG features like the agressive exterior, sports exhaust and the AMG instrument cluster with a 330 km/h speedometer. - BMW M760Li : a V12 still more modern than the one from Mercedes with direct injection, twin-scroll turbochargers and a 4 wheel drive transmission. And being an M Performance gives it an exclusive M Performance interior and exterior package and a ///M instrument cluster with a 330 km/h speedometer. So Mercedes should make the Maybach models feel more special and luxurious for the next generation GLS and S-class, according to Bentley's and Rolls-Royce's standards and then I'll see if I'll change my mind...

I’ve only ever seen a short Mercedes s class and i know for 100% that it was an s class and say not an e class impersonator but there is no short wheelbase s class in the us so I’m confused i don’t know how that works in Europe

Life is what you make it. You're young, so yours is still ahead of you. Read everything by Ayn Rand and Leonard Peikoff, and you'll be good. Also, a couple of books by Russ Harris, on Acceptance Commitment Therapy. Then, maybe read "Mindset" by Carol Dweck. This will give you a great advantage over 99.99% of people already. Seriously, read Ayn Rand till your eyes fall off - the greatest genius that ever lived. You'll be like a god amongst mere mortals. And subscribe to Charles Tew to get some support for your study of Objectivism. There, I gave you the best advice you'll get during your entire life. Do what you will with it.
