The 2019 Oracle NetSuite Open will feature the largest prize fund in its 10-year history when the PSA World Tour Gold-level event once again brings top-class squash back to San Francisco between September 24-30.“It’s great to see how far this tournament has come. Growing from a small event on the Peninsula to now one of the main events in squash taking place in San Francisco, next to some of the most iconic buildings, has really been a dream come true,” said Evan Goldberg, EVP of Oracle NetSuite. “We look forward to hosting some of the best athletes from around the world.”Held alongside the spectacular San Francisco waterfront, in front of the famous Ferry Building on Embarcadero Plaza, the Oracle NetSuite Open, which joined the PSA Tour in 2011, will offer a record prize of $242,000 split evenly between the men’s and women’s divisions - a 17 percent increase on the total prize money from last year's tournament. Based on total compensation, the tournament is currently the 10th largest on the 2019-2020 world tour.In addition, this year’s Oracle NetSuite Open will use a best-of-three games scoring format up to and including the semi-finals, with the finals reverting to the traditional best of five format used elsewhere on the PSA Tour. As the format also used at the season-ending PSA World Tour Finals, the Oracle NetSuite Open is the second ranking PSA Tour event to announce that it will be adopting a best-of-three format after successful trials at both the 2018 and 2019 Canary Wharf Classic.Tournament promoter John Nimick is enthusiastic about the scoring change. "Switching to the quicker scoring format is extremely exciting. The matches will be more intense from the start and we will be able to present more players and more entertainment in every session to our growing fan base.
