I took care of a friends mother for 2 years. She passed at 96 years of age. Clients will often change on a dime! She started leaning all body weight on us when we walked < UTI infection. And normally was able to walk. Just one night she and I where brushing her teeth and she says, "oh my, something is wrong with my legs." And just like that she wasn't able to stand. Thank God I had understanding of what to do if a person is falling or fainting and how to lower them to the floor. I laid on the floor with her as she says, "what are we doing on the floor" and told her, " well you where falling. Now that we are here... You can't fall and get hurt." She had dementia. I waited there with her making her laugh as much as possible. I am now trying to pass the CNA exam as a Challenger. I appreciate your videos so very much! We do need to laugh and love life as much as it gives us challenges. We are needed to make the best quality of life possible. I realize that time constraints in hospital and group homes is daunting for those who have the biggest hearts. God bless you.!💕

Oh wow, the very same thing is happening with my class, the AC went out, therefore we have to leave early and when are were there, we can't go into the skills lab because it is too hot, one thing after another, now we're doing our clinicals, and that is cut short because one of the teachers had a family crisis, not enough time to train!!, I hope I pass this exam either next month or September🥺.

Our instructor did not teach us much either. She would tell us to go to lab and practice, BUT she never TAUGHT us the skills! The other “kids” would just go in the lab and fool around on their mobile devices, talk , & curse. If the instructor decided to get out of her seat, and peak her head in to the lab, the “kids” would pretend like they were practicing the entire time! All she did was stay at her desk and completed tasks from her day time students AND she was always on her mobile device looking at trash and gossip content about actors & singers. Wish I had taken the other instructors classes. He seems like he is very efficient & cares about his students. Nurse Julie’s students are SO BLESSED to have her! Her KZbin channel is so LIT! @NURSEJAR4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Adriana! First question: No. Pearson Vue does not require testing candidates to place a clean barrier on the table. Second question: Body mechanics is not scoreable, so raising the height of the bed is not a requirement. But, if you do, just remember to put the bed back to a low, safe position before stating, "skill complete". Good luck on your exam!

@NURSEJAR4 жыл бұрын
Hi, King! Yes, you can. However, you have to keep in mind that your skills exam is timed. So, whenever and wherever you can shave time, you should. Hence, making multiple trips to dispose of your supplies and/or place them in the designated dirty area, will only eat up your time that could be spent on the actual performance of a skill.

Are we going to have partners to perform this skill on? So I could potentially get my foot washed?? 😩

Hi, Kristen! Yes. This skill is performed on a live person.

Hello Mrs Julie, i appreciate all your videos. i will be taking my test next month. i would like to know if this whole testing is timed for each candidate. how long can i spend on a skill before i get the times up signal? Also for the foot care, do i have to raise bed to a comfortable working position?

Hi, Initan! Thank you for your comment and good luck on your exam! If you are testing under Pearson Vue, you will have 30 minutes to complete your Skills Exam. There is no time limit to complete each individual skill. The timer will be set at 25 minutes. When it alarms, that will alert you that you have 5 minutes remaining to complete your exam. You will want to complete simplistic skills, such as Hand Hygiene or PPE within 3-5 minutes. This will allow you more time for your more com ppl lex skills, such as Peri-Care and Modified Bed Bath. Let me know how you do. What state will you be testing in?
