I worked at the Peterbilt factory in Denton Tx for 2 years until the big layoff in 07 , worked doing track rod and 5th wheel install on the line for the first year and went to cab trim joining the sleepers to the cab ( pounding the rubber seals between the 2 wears you arm out after 8 hours LOL ) and hanging mufflers and sometimes filling in in interior trim as well for the second year .

I'm happy for you, that's a great accomplishment! I actually like the dash set-up and steering wheel more than the new 389's! The way those 2 bars are in the center of the steering wheel, allow you to hold on to it with a motorcycle style grip, the new Volvo's have it also. I LOVE IT! Not a huge fan of all the plastic now days but, I do understand the pros & cons. Good job bro! One thing though. It's an (A.P. Unit) or, APU. Not an APU unit. That would be an Auxiliary Power Unit Unit! Lol..... Take care &, safe travels! Saddens me to hear you say the word "automatic" though😦

Nice enuf truck, but the interior is rather plain. You wanna see a wicked smart interior. Then the new Volvo VNL's or Mack Anthem's blow this Pete away. That said, Peterbilt has come light years with this interior. And all the manufacturers are heading towards creature comforts in these sleeper trucks. Much like small yachts and RVs. Despite the appeal of my likes towards the new Anthems and VNLs, I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at this truck. It'll do.
