4:00 the "A" marked ring is for the backup devices (for exapple petzl ASAP). Essential for abseilers.

the D sternal ring is supposed for aerial rescue BUT, i use it like a System towing on my rope wrench when i climb. I put a carabiner in the buckle and joint it to my rope wrench. Way easier you just have to concentrate on ascent without pulling your system up manually.

Chest D ring is for attaching your climbing devices to tend slack while you ascend(unicender, rope wrench or zig zag setup, rope runner, etc) it keeps you from having to attach a bungie over your back or around your neck and puts your climbing device in a certain position that lets you place your body in a more comfortable stance than the other two options and tends slack better than them too

I use my Petzl chest rig (no clue of it’s actual nomenclature) with my Sequoia SRT saddle to attach my zigzag to assist with my vertical ascent in MRS & SRT. This way I do not have to tend slack nor do I have to keep the front-heavy zigzag in an upwards position because it is always at sternum height. I can instead use both arms to work to hoist my 1/8 ton body weight (you are harder to kidnap when your weight is measured in a fraction of a ton by the way) upwards with less effort.

In what way is the MB more comfortable ? An is the extra 150 the MB cost worth the difference in comfort?
@brushlife94265 жыл бұрын
Mb seems to have more padding and has a wider back which both of those things makes it comfortable

What do you think about the grey loops in the front? Think they will wear out over a couple years from slightly moving against one another? Does it look like if it were The MRS version of the sequoia that you could still add gear support suspenders? Thanks for the review. Be safe.
@SmokeytheBeer4 жыл бұрын
Maybe this will help. I own the Sequioa SRT (2019 Version) with some time in it, but not enough to tell you if those grey loops (I call it a 'Belay Loop' because it is so similar to a rock climbing harness) will wear out over time. Coming from the rock/ice climbing world, you should replace your harness way, way before those loops wear out. On the Sequioa SRT, those grey loops are very durable material, different from normal webbing. However, from a a practical, in-tree use standpoint, I hardly ever use the grey loop because it is not an optimal attachment point for a carabiner and ascender. I find it a little to close to my body to be comfortable. I find the rope bridge is much more usefule because it is positioned farther away from your body, which makes it a better attachment point, at least for me. Where I see the grey loop useful is for adding those suspenders, even if you don't use the Top Croll or the fall arrest D ring. Great for a heavy saw. Additionally, on the back of the Sequioa SRT, there is a small black ring to run the suspenders through. While I don't own the MRS version of the Sequoia, you definitely could not use the Top Croll suspenders with that harness because it is missing the grey loop, and maybe the black ring too. I suppose you could bodge something together, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Nice and clear review! I’m using petzl sequoia drt harness, and I’m satisfied with it too! But anyway I’m looking forward the day I’ll try the monkey beaver saddle 😉 Keep on!

For me the SRT model is essential, Because here in Quebec, its illegal without Lifesupport suspenders with a buckle in upper back. so i have to attach a suspender kit to it. But i will purchase it he seems very great.
