I have a 2018 General 2seater ride command with the full enclosure on it, heat, the whole 9.. every option. Literally. I built it to plow snow.. I have yet to hit the trail with it though, because I’m worried about how well all the enclosure bits will hold up to the extreme jarring, bumping, and vibrating of hard trail riding.. does it get loose easily and start to cause parts to break or fail? How well does the glass hold up? I don’t want to have to baby my machine, because while it was built primarily as a plow machine, I chose it over the ranger so I could still ride it for fun in the summer, but I don’t want the thing coming apart and getting cracked glass etc.
@millersmotorsports5 жыл бұрын
No major issues. With the 4-seat wheelbase, there is quite a bit more chassis flex during trail riding and we have had a rear door requiring realignment twice in order to open/close smoothly as the frame has "settled," which is what we expected. We haven't seen this on the 2-door models. The glass holds up well as we had expected. We are conscious of making sure the windows are not kicked out to vent in tight areas to make sure they can't be caught by passing branches and damaged. One rear window fastener failed due to a bad weld from the manufacturer (only about 25% of the adjoining surfaces was welded vs. full coverage on every other joint) and we are working with Polaris to repair/replace under warranty. The door skins do get scratched, and we may be looking to add a vinyl wrap to later builds to help hide scratches or protect from them. We left the full cab on for Summer and really haven't experienced excessive heat inside. When moving with the windows open and the vents blowing ambient air, the cab stays relatively comfortable - about on par with a RZR/General with full windshields and full half doors. Still, the General with cab keeps the interior relatively clean and we are always ready for cold and rain. BTW, we have about 600-miles on our demo model and it is exclusively used for trail riding. Only normal services. Original drive belt.

Miller's Motorsports WOW! Thanks for taking the time to give such an informative reply! Mine is working great so far. A little leaky in the wet, but still way better than an open cab machine! The heat is a big plus when plowing. It’s a little slow to warm up, but holy cow does it work!

@FreakyT3335 жыл бұрын
You’ll not be disappointed with that 900 trail. They move real good. My only complaint is the ride in any of the trail models is just so far off the level of even the 60” 4 seat version. We have both as well as an xp1k 4 seater as well and the ride quality on trails is just incomparable between either 4 seat model and the trail. I personally prefer the 900 eps 4 seat out of the 3 as it combines the best from both ends of the spectrum. Of course a tune was in order to wake up the 900 but it rips trails no prob now
@FreakyT3335 жыл бұрын
Also you can get a very well equipped 60” 4 seat 1k now for half that 38k and still be more capable. Maybe won’t have full enclosed for that price point but who needs those, that’s what coats and gloves are for.

You went from 27 to 30” tires with no clutch work or upgraded axles. First rip on the trails say good bye to your belt and/or axles. Poor build. No forethought for the future owner of this land yacht. 👎🏻👎🏻
@millersmotorsports6 жыл бұрын
Second build like this on the General 4, many similar on the RZR S4. This particular model is part of our demo fleet and has been hitting the trails since early December trouble-free. We expect it will perform as such moving forward based on previous experience.
@grumpygramps97076 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. Though how do you deal with the power loss and increased torque on the axles due to the added rotational mass ? Ex: gear reduction for the transmission ?? Or clutching mod?
@millersmotorsports6 жыл бұрын
@@grumpygramps9707 Of course adding any additional weight to the driveline will create additional parasitic loss; however, with 100-HP, the General has more than enough power in reserve to haul the machine around with ease. Simply adding weight to the vehicle with accessories and payload can have the same effect. The taller tires do affect the overall final gearing, but the General, like that RZR S models, feature a trail-specific low range (as compared to RZR XPs) that preserves driveability with the larger tires and maintains sufficient clutch-to-belt engagement to limit excess wear. If customers are looking for enhanced driveline response, or are mainly riding in conditions with high torque loads on the drive train (rock crawling and mud bogging), then we may encourage adding a clutch kit to maintain drive and limit belt slippage. Ultimately, this build and, more broadly, the General line-up is not the typical model of choice for riders looking to rock bounce or bury their machines in mud. With reference to your question about the strength of the factory driveline, particularly the axles, the General’s driveline has proven to be pretty stout. Something to consider about the General, especially when benchmarking against high-performance models like a RZR, is that the General is rated to carry nearly 40% more total payload than its “cousin” RZR S 1000, and tow 1,500-lbs on top of that. This should give some merit to the strength of the OE equipment on the General. When we set up a vehicle, we don’t look to fix problems that don’t exist and waste money replacing good parts just because some people underestimate the capabilities of the factory equipment.
