Favorite option? Without a doubt cruise control is the most essential, I am a chronic leadfoot. It may sound trite, but the one that annoys me most when I'm city driving in a truck that doesn't have it is 'speed controlled volume'.

I watched these videos over a year ago. I’ve owned a 2020 exact same spec just over a year now. It’s an absolute pleasure, zero issues. It took me a while to ease into Ram given its old reputation.

I LOVE my Ramboxes! My other vehicles always, always, always, had tools and clutter on the inside, now I can be proud to have someone sit inside my vehicle because they can't see my inner Horder. Great content here, glad to see there's other Rambox fans. It was literally the feature why I chose Ram and have not regretted it. Besides the split tailgate I get the most compliments and questions on the Rambox. Funny enough I have no problem showing them off when people ask. Don't forget about the box divider that comes too, that's an awesome feature to subdivide the box. I tie off to that constantly. Keep the channel going, looking forward to the EV content!

I agree once you've used RamBox it's hard to go without. I keep towing essentials (chains, straps, etc) on 1 side and all my tools on the other. Don't miss the old school toolbox in the bed or the bed space over the wheel wells. Glad to hear your DT has held up so well, love that new cab.

I bought a 2011 Ram 1500 that happened to have Ram boxes and didn't think much about it until I started using them. I can't imagine having a truck without them now. My current truck is a 2020 Ram 1500 and it not only has the Ram boxes has the new split tailgate and it makes access to the bed very easy. I guess that's two things I have to have in a truck now.

Another point on the Ram Boxes that is a visual dynamic is that they look far better on a Black or dark colored Ram than on a Silver or White Ram like mine as all the seams from doors to Ram Boxes appear to stand out more than a darker painted truck where those seam lines tend to disappear more.

I agree 100%. Not a good look with white. I seldom put form over function but I did in this case and left out the ram boxes. I think next time i'll go with the white ram boxes and just get used to the look. :D

As of ram box owner for 4.5 years now. My only regret is not having the 6.5 foot bed so i could of had even bigger ram boxes lol best invention ever. There are lots of things that belong somewhere thats not in the cab or in the bed, the ram boxes fixes that completely.

Hey Justin, great points on the Ram-boxes. I think some guys see the truck bed with the Ram-boxes and think it significantly reduces bed capacity, but it really doesn't, just makes the bed look a lot smaller. Overall, they can be very useful and a great storage solution for people with different hobbies or jobs! Speaking of storage, you could probably hide a socket wrench or two or maybe a hammer in that beard of yours lol, I enjoy your content!

I am not surprised with your comments on the Ram Boxes. I had a 2003 Avalanche which had a similar bed to it. It had the boxes on both sides just like the Ram boxes and no wheel well humps in the bed. It was still 4ft between the bed sides and you could easily carry any 4x8 product in the back. The Avalanche also featured the first rear bumper with integrated steps in it which GM now uses on nearly all of their pickup trucks. It was a very useful truck.

A couple potential cons for those thinking about getting Ramboxes. Your tonneau cover options are more limited. Still some great options out there, but if you have a favorite, make sure it'll fit a Rambox version. The other potential con to consider is if you're building a Ram for something like Overlanding and off roading. Your choices of bed racks are way more limited because of the Rambox doors. I've only found 2 or 3 ones that I like that are aethestically pleasing while also being functional. A lot of the very popular bed racks will not fit or have a version that may go on your Rambox bed. Still love my Ramboxes, though.

I love my Rambox! When I bought my 2015 Lonestar, it came with Rambox, and I just thought it looked cool. For my new Ram, the Rambox with non-negotiable. It had to have the Rambox. Incredibly useful for road trips with family, hunting camp, or trips to Home Depot, etc

I love the Ram Box. I have a 2021 Ram 2500 with Ram Box. Most people that want the Ram Box are using the truck to work. I use it for Landscaping and plowing and the Box is great for holding extra plow hydraulic lines, tow chains/straps, hand tools and many other things. My biggest problem with the Ram Box is that you can not get the 5th Wheel puck system when you get the Ram Box. A lot of the new rear mount snow plows mount to the rear hitch and puck system for stability. I built my truck from the factory and as soon as you click on Ram Box option it takes away the 5th wheel prep pkg. You would think with a work truck they would let you get both options.

When I bought my truck, after having a Ram 2500 work truck and a Ford F150 work truck, I knew that I wanted a Ram with the Rambox option. Because I am getting older, just turned 60, I hated climbing up in the bed to access my toolbox. I love having a my tools, straps pumps etc, easily at hand without climbing into the bed. The other option that I like is the A/C ventilated seats. Living in Louisiana, I have no need of heated seats. But the ventilated seats have eliminated back sweat! I have a 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie EcoDiesel. The fuel mileage is my third favorite thing about the truck. Just got through with a 10 day 1600 mile vacation/trip to the N. GA mountains. I managed 31.5 MPG with a fully loaded bed and 3 adults. Can’t beat it!

2020 Power Wagon owner with Ram Boxes. Regardless of your opinion on the aesthetics of them the utility is undeniably useful. I have a air compressor hardwired on one side. I can fit fishing poles, shotguns, shovels, axes, off-road recovery gear. All out of sight neat and organized. The bed space you lose is insignificant because of the out of sight space you gain from the Ram Boxes.

I am on my fourth Ram. I have loved every one. In 2012, I bought my 2nd 1500. That was my first experience with the Rambox system. I wasn’t sure I’d use them that much. I was wrong. They were awesome, and like you said, you can fit so much in them. In 2018, I “upsized” to a Ram 2500. It did not have the Ramboxes, but I figured I’d be ok without them. Wrong again! After two years, I decided to trade in the 2500. This time, I was getting everything I wanted in a truck. I bought the 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport, with the 12” entertainment system, GPS, WIFI, heated/cooled seats, and the Ramboxes. The 2020 Ramboxes are nicer than the 2012, and have the AC outlet, and lights. The remote locking is also great. I use the passenger side for tools, jumper cables, inflator, tie down straps, etc. The driver side is all jet ski stuff:) Boat shoes, towels, chamois clothes for when we wash the skis off, and I actually fit a spare life jacket in there too. It’s great keeping the wet stuff out of the cab. When it comes to tailgating, the Ramboxes are king! Empty them out, remove the rubber on the bottom (so the drain holes are open), fill with ice and your favorite beverages, and you just put everyone else’s coolers to shame😀

I can see the attraction for the Ram Boxes as utilitarian as they obviously are but I prefer the cleaner look of the Ram body style without them. I use my new 2021 White Ram Limited Night Edition with Hemi E-Torque for my work truck in my painting contractor business, only I flip up the back seats, put down a moving blanket & place all my tool boxes & bins on the rear area floor, then utilize my bed for my airless pump & ladders. Mine came with the factory liner bed & Tonneau cover which looks & works like a dream. Another great video bud, thanks for sharing your opinions my friend!

Thanks Vinnie. I can understand why you’d want to go that route. In a trade that requires bringing your tools inside, RamBoxes aren’t the most efficient. In my job, I park the truck right next to the machine I’m working on. Congrats on the new truck!

I agree that they are truly a great idea and a plus for the Ram brand. I, however, didn't get them on my Ram nor did I want them for one main reason. In my job, I install residential kitchen appliances and quite often have to deliver them as well as haul away the old ones. And even though there is enough room for multiple units, if the truck is full, there isn't any room for my appliance dolly with the tailgate up. I lay my dolly down on it's side in that space by the wheel well. I also carry long pieces of lumber along the opposite side. So, although that are very useful, there just not for me.

Rambox is awesome. I travel over the road a lot and use one side for all kinds of gear and the side as a cooler mostly. They are simply too awesome. It's like having 2 small trunks on each side of your bed.

My 2020 limited with ram boxes and I had a hard time deciding covers and my best bet was the lomax trifold. Best cover ever and low profile looks great and sleek. Always go thru the Carwash and no water in my bed. Best purchase for my ram so far

I have a 2015 Ram 1500 with the old style Ram Boxes. I only went to Ram, from GMC, because of the Ram Boxes. I love the boxes, but they do warp. Ram has replaced the boxes twice, at N/C, due to warping. I have a “scratch my head” observation though. The new style boxes r ONLY available on the 1500 with a 5’7” bed. If you want boxes on a 6’4” bed, you can only get the old style Ram boxes on a Ram 2500. Ram does not have Ram boxes for a 1500 with a 6’4” bed for newer model year Ram trucks. WHY????

biggest drawback for me, on my 2017 Ram, w/Ramboxes is that there are no really great options for camper shell. I didnt think I would want one when I bought the truck, but I kind of do now.

One more thing they are great for is carrying firearms and ammo to the range and such. Depending on what state you live in or a traveling through, and if you don’t have a CCL, transporting guns in the cab can be illegal if not broken down, in a locked case, etc. I was disappointed in the rifle rack accessory you can buy for them though, rifles in padded zippered cases don’t fit in the rack’s slots. Glad I ordered them on my 2500 last year, my favorite option!

Unfortunately my 2019 Ram 1500 Limited does not have the Ram boxes. In my opinion they do make the truck look better in every way. I do like the look, regardless of my preference they are an expensive option, and knowing that they take the truck into that next level of premium when the truck has them. If I had built my truck it would have had Ram boxes and the bigger fuel tank.

I’ve got them on my 2019 Laramie. The panels have never lined up correctly from the factory. I love them but they don’t make any kind of a bed cap camper or a slide in camper. Not many overland bed rack available. Never thought about it before until I started wanting a camper cap. Thanks

Another con is you can never install a truck cap like Leer or A.R.E. I had 2 rams with the boxes. Just bought a 2023 without them so I can have a cap.

If you're looking for "long term reliability", the 5.7l Hemi is tried true and tested. It gives plenty of power, get up and go, strength and "reliability". Another "long term plus" is it's comfort and appeal, it's a good looking truck that just feels good and can handle the advertised weight ratings with ease. If you want something for only light loads and minimal towing with the best in class fuel economy, it's not for you.

This is what hurts the most with the current market. Post covid, the Ram Boxes have all but disappeared in the market. I recently picked up my 19 Laramie with everything I wanted with the exception of the boxes simply because the only ONE I could find in the state had nothing else I was looking for. I've actually taken to the salvage yard websites to see if I can get my hands on a bed.

You discuss very relevant topics.., I’ve been torn between getting them or not... ordering a 23 soon, and still can’t decide... I do not need them for work, and do not take tools with me anywhere... all my tools are in my garage. I do like the idea of extra storage though.. do you put groceries in there? I’ve not owned a truck, so not sure what I want out of it... but selling my grand Cherokee srt8 and trailer, and thought a truck would be a good replacement... I do plenty of handy work on the house, so did use trunk often.. if I decide to through a few bikes in or maybe a dirt bike, do I really need the full bed? Debating.....

At the end of the day, it’ll come down to whether you want clean protected storage that’s not in the cab of the truck. Also, keep in mind that if something isn’t going to fit in the bed, it probably is because it’s only a 5.5 ft bed, not because of the RamBoxes. Hope this helps

See I disagree at the end, I don't use my ram box's often but when I go to the beach I love using them as a ice chest, also important to note they do have drain's built in to be used that way, I also like to store important things as mentioned jumper cables ect for emergencies but it provides imo a cleaner look having the bed empty and none of that in the cab
