I only tow a small utility trailer with at most, a pallet of sod. So towing 4k pounds is not a problem. I like the engine - it has plenty of power and is good at passing. I was surprised how much pep it has. The ride is awesome and after 1 year it has had 0 defects.

So I traded in my Mustang gt for this. Was a little upset with myself with downgrading to a v6 but surprisingly I absolutely love it. It still has a good kick, I save gas, insurance got cut in half, and I mean you can do just about anything with it just like you can get with the v8. I 100% suggest this truck to anyone who is looking for something big but won’t break the bank.

I have the 2017 Ram 1500 with a Pentastar v6 and still love it. Simple engine and no fancy start/stop electronics.

You could still get it without the e torque it's an option to not get it.

the smaller engines are affected by the tire size and weight of a tire. If you had 18inch tires with a 4 ply you would get 22 to 24mpg same with the new 2.7 chevy engine. I put 10 ply tires on mine and it dropped 3mpg

Good review, I still like my big horn after 10 months. The pentastar is a good motor but I don't think you'll save much on gas as I get the same mileage with my Hemi 3.21 Etorque.

I have a 2019 quad cab tradesman. It's been great so far. Average 22 mpg but we have almost always had kids/gear etc in the truck and ac running with how hot it has been in Salt lake this summer. The folding center seat/ console combo has been more useful than I thought it would be. 95% of the time it's folded down, cup holders and storage area. But it sure has been nice to have an extra seat for an extra kids friend a few times avoiding taking a second car.

interesting, I bought a v6 '19 and I was kicking myself for not getting a v8, but the more I look into this etorque thing and how it works and everything I'm seriously so happy I got the v6 now, mine has a pretty bare bones package but I love it. It's a great truck.

Nice honest review. I went from an 06 Hemi to a 15 cummins for my camping needs and picked up the 19 v6 when I sold my trailer but still needed a truck. I’ve had it for 9 months and still getting use to the power or lack there of. It’s ok if you are not towing and no problem passing people whatsoever. Pros, extremely comfortable ride, great radio interface, excellent backup camera, huge back seat (15 yr old son is 6’1”), regular gas; Cons, low speed the transmission sits in too high of a gear causing the truck to cruise at 1k rpms and seems like it’s going to stall, shifts in and out of 8th too much on the highway. For fuel economy, I’ve only hit the epa highway of 24 once but I was driving no more than 60 in a very flat area with only a few lights along the way. Average highway is 21.8, hand calculated. Even got that with 5 adults in the truck with a weeks worth of beach gear, clothing etc... driving from VA down to SW FL. Regardless, can’t seem to get much better unless I’m going less than 65. Old hemi with a 6 spd best was 20 mpg and the Cummins was awesome at 22 mpg and I hit over 23 mpg during a 200 plus mile run. Nice thing is that I only need regular which does help. I guess I would be much happier with the truck if I was getting the epa of 19/24 but I’m shy on both. This is just a daily driver for me, home project runs, bicycle carrier etc... If I was towing again on a regular basis, I would step up to the hemi, wait for the eco diesel or jump back up to the Cummins.

just curious, what rear end ratio do you have? I've actually heard the 3.55 gets better than the 3.21. Not sure about 3.92 lol.

I've been driving a v6 ram 1500 for 5 years, I average 10-11 L/100km (23-21 mpg) I drive a lot of highway, and not much city though. I just ordered a loaded Bighorn with the same motor, but with E-torque.

@@FastEddie368 It will and lots of people have,, it really just depends on operating conditions. In our test, we weren't able to acheive the EPA numbers, but it's also important to understand just how different EPA testing is compared to the real world.

@@5thGenRams Thanks, I just placed a order for a fully loaded 2020 Longhorn with a V6. Lots of dealers said it couldn't be built that way. But I'm hoping it gets much better highway MPG than the 15 mpg my 2 WD 2005 5.7 Hemi w/ 3.92 gears does!

Just bought the big horn sport package V6. I was dead set on the Hemi walking into dealership and drove the V6 and the V8 and was so impressed with the V6 I went with it. This is a great everyday driver!

I just waited 5 months for my dealer to order /install the battery with a 75k mile mopar warranty. Bought my truck in December of 2018 and the car was sent to the dealer December of 2023.

theDustytexan I have a 2019 ram 1500 v6 and tows 7200 pounds. I have a rev that I tow around 5200 I believe, hauls it fine. But I get like 9mpg when towing.

going from a 2016 ram 1500 5.7 hemi big horn to a red and black 2019 ram 1500 express night edition 3.6 pentastar v6 i hope i like it it seems like just enough truck for my needs and i think i can save on fuel compared to the hemi.im less likely to hit the gas to have fun and speed when shes just not there anymore lol.I pull a 5x8 trailer with 3 snow blowers on it.very good review. ty

I had 2 previous bighorns in a hemi, crew cabs. In 19, went to a Toyota (wife wanted it), just went back to 1500 in nightshade black in V6, love it.
