2019 RAV4 HYBRID LIMITED / The radio keeps rebooting constantly! 🔄

After doing this crazy 'put car in reverse' idea, I had to comment. It actually works. I have a 2019 Rav4, Adventure, and the stock battery finally died. I replaced it myself and immediately noticed the info/radio screen acting up just like in this video. I read somewhere that I need to wait a few days for the system to reset itself. After a week the info system still acted up. So, I came here and saw all the comments suggest I put the car in reverse to reset the info system. I thought, what BS. Until I actually tried and saw the damn thing work. Here's what I did step by step if you are curious. I have a push button but I think this will work on key entry cars too. Push start button twice for accessory mode. Do not turn car on. (or turn key to accessory power mode only.) Push brake and put car in reverse. Make sure the car is on a flat surface. Release brake. At this point my car had a constant alarm going off. Some warning about car being in reverse and will not start. That's fine. I set a timer for 11 minutes (to make sure I do a full 10 minutes as some suggested.) I then put the car back in park mode and turned off the car. Finally I start the car up normally with brake and push button. The engine started and the info/system loaded up. It actually worked! Hope this helps anyone with the same problem and that this ridiculous 'put car in reverse' idea actually works. (Maybe it's a software trick to reset the info system.)

This worked on my 2019 RAV4 Limited Hybrid after the car sat unused for about 2 months. The engine started okay. The hybrid batteries still had a charge. The regular 12v battery (original to car) probably died. I started the car, put it into reverse and lifted the ((P)) button in center console (parking brake on a hybrid). Backup camera was on. Left the ignition on for 10+ minutes (engine went on automatically after a couple minutes). After 10 minutes I shifted back to park and shut it off. I restarted it and the radio/navigation system was good! Thank you so much for the solution. I'm sure Toyota would have sold me a new system or a very expensive repair!

I apologize for the confusion. Through this video, I simply wanted to showcase the real-time state of the problem I’m facing. In the video, you can see me pressing any button, but nothing works, including the screen. In essence, the screen is completely unresponsive, rendering the radio non-functional and unable to respond to any commands. In reality, this is highly inconvenient as without normal radio functionality, many commands cannot be executed. Toyota is well aware of this. Regarding the video, it is solely a demonstration that the device is no longer responsive to any commands. Have you experienced a similar issue with a Toyota RAV4?

We had a similar situation where our Rav4 was unused for 1 month. Without performing any sort of diagnosis, dealership just said to pay $4000 for replacing the screen. After seeing that many had this rebooting issue after returning from vacation (same as me), I decided that it was time to replace the nearly 4 year old battery. After replacing the battery, here are the steps that worked for me on my RAV4 2020 Limited. Park in a well-ventilated open area outside, suitable for running the engine, not in an enclosed structure such as a garage. 1. Start the car 2. Apply the parking brake, ((P)) button in center console 3. Shift into reverse for 10 minutes so the reverse camera stays on 4. After 10 minutes, shift to park 5. Turn off car 6. Start the car and test the radio Assuming the steps above resolved the radio reboot issue, you can now update the firmware / software on the radio to avoid this issue in the future from Toyota's website.

I had the same problem on my Toyota RAV4 2023 hybrid and I was trying this and it didn’t fix it. I try something else and worked. What I did was: 1. Go to Toyota App on your Phone 2. Press on your vehicle image 3. Scroll down and you will see remove vehicle 4. Delete vehicle 5. And then try to set your vehicle again on the app *in one step is gonna ask you to Scan QR Code on your Rav4 screen or try another way, do the scan QR code on your RAV4 screen and keep doing the set up until you finished it. This method worked for me, it’s a problem with the subscription of navigation system something like that. All it needs is a reset. Hope this worked for you 💪🏼

2023 RavR hybrid owner here with the same problem. Radio/touchscreen reset 3 times then just went blank. Just tried this fix, and it didn’t work the first time. Trying it again now. Is this the correct process? 1. Turn car on (press start button) 2. Put foot on brake and put car in reverse. 3. Lift “P” lever to engage the parking brake (rear view camera comes on monitor) 4. Wait 10 minutes. 5. Put car in park. Turn off car. 6. Restart car. Radio and touch screen should turn on. I hope this works…. UPDATE: It didn’t work the second time either. Maybe I’m doing it wrong. UPDATE 2: just tried it again…nothing. 😞

Put it in reverse with the car on then turn on the parking brake so the car doesn’t move but the reverse camera stays on. Leave it on the reverse camera for 10 mins. That’s how I fixed mine. Happened after I changed the battery.

My 2019 Limited did the same after a battery disconnect. Tried the fix on the TSB 6 times with no success. On the 7th try I let it sit in reverse for 10+ minutes instead of the recommended 5 minutes and it finally worked. My RAV4 is my 4th new Toyota and will be my last. Nothing but bugs and noises and poor quality fit and finish. What car does this after a battery replacement? Toyota is not what it used to be. My kids 2009 Yaris with 230,000kms on it feels more solid than this car.

@@cnegpam That's my goal! Had to replace the engine coolant bypass valve because I got the "Engine Maintenance Required" message that couldn't be cleared. I went to my dealer to get a quote on the replacement and they told me they had never heard of the issue before (just like all the other ones we've had). I mentioned it's all over the Toyota forums and they basically scoffed at me. So I just bought the part and replaced it myself. That's why the battery had to be removed. Everything is working as it should for now (knock on wood). We owned a 2011 Venza before this one and put 300,000Kms on it without issue.
