I have those Matco long reach ratcheting wrenches without the lip and I live in the north east and use them to break shit loose. Haven’t broken a single one maybe it’s just those with the lip that break easy
@gsnovato_autotech5 жыл бұрын
What I've heard is that because all the stress is put on the lip it causes uneven pressure inside the ratcheting part of the wrench causing the gears to strip. I dont know if that's true or not but it seemed to satisfy me at the time lol. I have some snap on ratcheting wrenches without the lip and I break stuff loose with those all the time and have yet to break one yet even though there were times I thought I would. Anyhow, thanks for watching and also your input I'll definitely check out those matco ones without the lip

I am definitely learning alot which is why I love being a mechanic and Diagnostician. I love the challenge. I usually move when I feel I'm getting stagnant and at my full potential for whatever shop. I always wanna be better and know that even after about 18 years in the business there is always more to learn. Life is good. Anyways thanks for watching.

man I've got to say you auto techs have a ton of tools. I personally don't have that much invested, but I'm a tractor trailer mech, utility type guy, the diagnostic equipment itself is pricey and all you guys have your own. I know for you guys time is 💰 and it shows. I have only known one diesel mech with that much stuff, he had passed away from diabetes. he had 3 old kra1000s middle and tops and hutches for all. close to 200k in only snap on tools. it's been bout 15 years ago since he passed, I can still remember his bay at Siva, just a wall of snap on boxes, holy cow . again good luck to you bro

Hello GS.Novato, I just finished watching your toolbox/toolcarts inventory. What can I say but WOW! You have a very nice set of toolcarts and a very nice toolbox. You also have a really nice collection of tools too that you keep pretty nicely organized. If I had 1 complaint of your inventory (and I'm a tool guy too with my own toolbox inventory here on KZbin) it would be that it seemed to long. Granted you have a lot of tools. Thanks for sharing your toolbox/toolcarts inventory with us. Gregg (Critter) Muse

Great tool box and tools. Mostly well thought out. A few questions and comments; I;ll never understand those of you who keep ratchets in an entirely different drawer than sockets. Maybe if they;re in a smaller drawer on the same level, but to open one drawer then close it and have to open another.... Then you keep triple squares and hex bits in a bottom drawer when you have plenty of room by your ratchets? You just waste too much time getting a ratchet, socket, extension, and so on. Also I don't understand why you mix metric wrenches with SAE. You know before you open the first drawer if the size is metric or not - so why not keep Metric together in the same drawers and SAE in the same? You may be a very good Tech, but efficient you;re not. But hey you're young, you have time to learn. Again, very, very nice set up. Thanks fo rsharing.
@gsnovato_autotech5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I work on mostly European and dont have much use for metric which explains why it's in the same drawer and I dont have room for my ratchets with my sockets. But mostly I'm familiar with what I'm working on so I grab everything that I will need before I even start working on a car. No back and forth to my box so my efficiency will get better but its pretty damn good as it is 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
@prevost86865 жыл бұрын
LM Everyone has a different organizational system. I’ve had my box organized one way for my whole career(30 years). I can go to my box blindfolded and drunk and grab everything that I need without thinking about it. To others, it may not be the best way but I didn’t organize it for them.
@gsnovato_autotech5 жыл бұрын
In the near future (within a years time) I plan on trading in my split top roll around, locker, and 54" box towards a 84" Epic box with hutch. I should be able to fit almost all of my tools at work into it (being better for organization with less of a footprint) and still have room to grow into my flip top cart. Anyways thanks for your honest opinions fellas and thanks for the support.

gs.novato but with all that kit it has to be a lot i mean mine is a 40inch with a few tools and it’s like 100 a month and i started around a year ago but most of yours look brand new so it can’t be cheap to have a box like that?
@gsnovato_autotech5 жыл бұрын
Some of it is new some not. I just take care of my stuff. I've been in the industry over 15 years. In 2011 I had all my tools stolen from a shop I worked at so everything you see has been purchased in the last 8 years. I was a business owner doing mobile diagnostic and repair for a few years and that's when I bought alot of it because it was all tax deductible. Also after my tools were stolen I needed tools fast but couldn't afford to replace everything through any of the tool trucks so I bought cheaper like craftsman, vim, harbor freight, napa, otc, etc.... just to get a good base then when I was able to make $ again than I started replacing some of the cheaper stuff

@gsnovato_autotech5 жыл бұрын
How much voltage or amps do u think it takes to light a bulb or LED in a test light. There may be current flow but just because it lights up doesnt mean that the circuit is good.

A Test light is very a useful tool if you know how, and where to use it. Multimeter is also a good tool but it can also lead you down the wrong path just as it can with a test light. Personal preference i think, and experience. Nice set up otherwise.
@gsnovato_autotech5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The problem I find with a test light is that it doesnt take alot of current flow to light that bulb and even less if it's an LED. The test light could show you that the circuit is good when in reality it doesnt have enough voltage to operate as it should. I agree with you about the multimeter but it is less likely to burn you unless your doing a pointless test like an ohms test which literally only needs 1 strand of wire in a cable to give you a false continuity reading. I have also seen new techs fry computers using a power probe to apply voltage but that's a whole nother thing all together. Lol
@allthegearbutnoideamanwest31745 жыл бұрын
@@gsnovato_autotech yeah I hear what you're saying.. I have a few test light's set up, ranging from half a amp current draw to 4 amps current draw.. depending on what I'm testing E.g a head light circuit I'd use a test as a substitute I found it works for me.. I won't go down the road of Oms testing via multimeter but totally agree with what you say in your e.g As for power probe its a good tool, in the right hands.. I have one myself I only use it for trailer wiring Oh and testing my test lights 😆 Cheers Niall
@racingdesire5 жыл бұрын
A lot of situations test light is best way to go, need to sauder in a non led bulb to create a bigger load on the circuit. A good meter and a test light, should be in every tech's box
@Yonny3165 жыл бұрын
I like my snap on test light because it shows voltage and you can check for power and ground. That changes the game I think when you have a test light/meter hybrid so to speak.
