Great farm workhorse -- the Toyota Hilux! We have the 2018 G variant. And driving the truck onroad to the city while it is so muddy dirty is a head turner to many as it really looks so functionally, properly used! And in fact is! 20 bags of fertilizer, or animal feeds, or grains, is easy peasy (& that's about a ton) on the bucky, plus a couple of co-workers inside the cab! From time to time, we also use it for long-distance travels. And to manage the bumpiness of the ride, we just load the back with some weight (at least 250 kg) plus driver & 3 passengers inside the cab. Fuel consumption-wise, 13.5 km/L combined tar & rough road conditions. So far, do good! Very functional & very practical for our daily use (under our own condition). Cheers & mabuhay from tropical Philippines!

Great review, I watched it when I was choosing a pickup for myself and I'm watching it now, 3 months after I bought a new Hilux, which is (in my opinion) best value for money if you are looking for a work truck. I haul 850kg of load every day and it remains well planted on the road, the engine is punchy enough even with "only" 150hp. The Power mode really makes a difference when going uphill. The biggest con is the lack of storage under the rear seats (a couple of straps and you're done). A great pickup truck, I would choose it again.

@MarekDrives5 жыл бұрын
Pickup trucks are generally NOT very popular in Poland, around 3.4k sold last year. #1 is Ranger (900), #2 is Hilux (700), and #3 is D-Max (500). There was a time, when a pickup truck was an interesting alternative to an SUV for tax purposes, but I think people soon realised they are saving money, but also sacrificing a lot of comfort.

@MarekDrives4 жыл бұрын
Pickup trucks are not popular in Poland in general. There was a period when people bought them as an alternative to SUVs because of a tax break, which classified these as a "lorry", and therefore you could reclaim full VAT. But as soon as the tax law changed nobody buys them. For Europe this is the worst of everything: poor performance, terrible handling, compromised storage (you can't leave anything in an open bed, because it will get stolen), and on top of it all it's big, and cumbersome to park.
@SuperSokol74 жыл бұрын
@@MarekDrives You can put a cab on the bed and there are many small farms in Poland so I think a pick up would be more practical than a van, that can easily get stuck in mud or fields. Strange.
@MarekDrives4 жыл бұрын
In Poland you can tell a "real farmer" from an "EU subsidy farmer" by the car he owns. And as far as I can tell a "real farmer" will never buy a pickup truck, because it's just too expensive for what it has to offer. This is market specific, because those stripped down single cab pickup trucks are pretty much unavailable. There were a coupe of special procurement contracts for some road construction companies, etc., but if you go into a showroom, it's often too high spec to be affordable, and too compromised to be the only vehicle in the family. You can get a van, and a small hatchback for that kind of money.

It is NOT an Amarok Marek! You call it this at least twice in the video. Towing capacity is not up to the industry standard for this category of vehicle, which is 3.5 tons. It is even beaten by the Mitsubishi L200 in the UK, which can tow 3.5 tons as long as the trailer is triple axle. Most other rivals have unrestricted 3.5 tons towing capacity. This is important for most farmers, who make up the majority of customers for pickups. Actually on the pre-facelift model, in the UK at least, there was a way to upgrade the towing capacity to 3.5 tons. Not sure how that was done.
