@Bobbo Morgan your Chevys were still better than Fords of that gen. Ford had plenty major defects in Powerstroke 6.0 and 6.4 and the V8 gas with sensor, cam and other issues. Chevy had some real shitty brakes till 2006. Did you ever see Fords Neutral switch shift linkage problem from 50s to 80s ? was common issue for many years , if you left it running it would drop into reverse and Ghost rider emerged :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3fOlnqGZ92fo68

Thank you. I love how these guys don’t hate on Toyota and aren’t biased and they appreciate the purpose and simplicity of a vehicle like the 4Runner and the TRD Pro lineup in general. I feel the same exact way. Something about the design and simplicity of the 4Runner tundra and Tacoma I just gravitate towards and even though I own a 4runner I would 1000 percent choose one of those three in the Toyota TRD Pro lineup over any other suv or truck with the newest updates and tech. Don’t like too much cluster and all these fancy buttons and infotainment systems. I just like something simple that will run and last forever and have great resale value in case for the future to just have that piece of mind. The fact that their ford ranger review there were malfunctions during the review just says it all on my opinion on all that new tech. Nothing wrong with it but just not my cup of tea.

You know, I felt the same way about the most of Toyota’s lineup in Q1 2018. Toyota tends to make one design that they know will age well and make minor changes to it as time goes on. They did the same with the previous gen Corolla and Rav4 as well as the current Tacoma, Tundra, and Highlander. It’s like they design a “one-size fits all” vehicle per segment and let it ride. Tundras still sell well for the company and honestly. At the end of the day, while the Tundra is old - they didn’t have as many technology scandals/failures as the other companies. Also, they don’t sell in volume like the F150. The F150 sells so well partly because Ford keeps it’s updated knowing that they get their money back and then some. Toyota can’t Garuntee that with the Tundra.

Traded in my '14 Sierra Denali for the TRD Pro. After barely dodging a $6k repair that was covered under warranty (broken rocker) and fixing multiple other known issues (air conditioning, vacuum pump, broken stupid vibrating seat, heated seats stopped working, wheel corroded and wouldn't hold air, started leaking water at the headliner over the drivers seat)... it was time for a new truck. Simple was the name of the game and the TRD Pro was perfect for my needs. Strong resale, super comfortable ride, utilitarian interior, reliable, sounds great and I added heated seats for $400 from a local shop that work fantastic. This was all after owning my GMC, driving a 5.0 F-150 XLT for a week while it was in the shop (very nice but a little bland). It might not be the truck for everyone, but it fit the bill for me and I love it. Yuri and Jacob do a great job, thanks for all the entertainment and great info!!

@Jack Z If you read carefully and have atleast half a working brain to put together what I said, which isn't very hard, I clearly say price doesnt always matter as there are features in the Raptor that blow the Tundra out the park. The Raptor just looks miles better, sounds better, handles better, and isn't some cheap feeling, corner cutting, mostly plastic truck that's overpriced (the Tundra)

Just not on the Pro. 2020 colors will be normal white, black, magnetic gray(they’re adding a third normal color option) and the special color will be army green. It's a solid truck but I see several things I like and don't like. The things I like are the power rear window, the Voodoo blue paint, and most of the styling, it is one of the better looking trucks. But the things I don't like are no leather wrapped steering wheel, the wimpy looking tires for an "off-road" trim package, and the two hood scoops - after you pointed them out I just couldn't un-see them and their weird look. But right now I'm team Ram for the best truck.

I have an 08, built here in the greatest state ever, lifted on 35s, and it sees a minimum of 10 miles of off road every single day since it does double work as a daily around the ranch and town as well as weekly trips to Houston. It’s stupid easy to swap the display to get CarPlay and such, it also gives all readings and can show you what error code is happening for check engine, maintenance ect. It can also adjust the speedo for different size tires. It has over 300k miles and hasn’t needed any major maintenance except for a new radiator (tire flew up from the road and cracked it) Needless to say its an amazing truck and I would definitely recommend it

A friend of mine was a ram power train engineer at FCA and I can tell you that this truck was bench-marked and is an absolute tank. If I wanted reliability in a half ton truck that was under load often this would be it. That being said, as a truck owner who is not beating on it daily, I prefer the ride and interior of my ram. Honestly if they left the truck part alone and redid the interior like a Ram this might be the best all around truck.

That voodoo blue and blacked out grill is very nice looking, indeed. This truck is old, but is aging well. It actually got a mild refreshening to the interior/exterior in 2014, but has been basically the same truck since 2007. I'm fine with the lower hoodscoop, but that one pasted on the top of the hood is ridiculous. The powertrain in these Tundras are proven and reliable, unlike the new tech that the other manufacturers are trying. I like the Ram Rebel better in terms of looks and interior features, but if I was paying my own money for a truck I wanted to keep, I'd get the TOYota. I look forward to TOYota eventually revealing their next generation Tundra and the subsequent Straight Pipes review.
