Just stick a long socket extension in the plug hole at TDC and push down on the top of the piston. If you squish a bearing you can feel the play in the piston and it will push down alittle. Super eazy way to find rod knock.

Unplug the coil pack on the first drivers side cylinder, and start it, and see if the knock goes away

Whipple is damaging a lot of motors idk why I know like 7 guys already with whipples experience this .. I have a edlebrock 2650 with 10k miles of racing & I have no problems

@@Wengerdperformance Unless its screwed the cat and melted a piston or ring land. I expected to see some debris on the piston that was being pinched between the head. Honestly its hard to tell without being there and listening but i agree a tear down is next whatever it is wont be fixed in the car. 5 is eating oil so that needs attention as well, oil contamination lowers octane of the fuel which is never good.

I saw someone change the pcv valve and it went away. Try with a stethoscope to see where it's coming from. Also change oil more frequent.

Could it be lifters in the heads? Could the timing chain be slapping due to a weak tensioner?

I can definitively rule out that noise being timing chain slap from my own experience on these cars. I wouldn't rule out something in a head or rod bearing.

@@mgreene011 yeah a timing chain usually makes more of a shimmering flutter sound with the slap, and not a clean clunk. I bet Daryle will find whatever it is.

Put the plugs and coils back in. Start the car. Disconnect each coil pack one at a time. If no change plug back up. Rod or wrist pin will go quite on back cylinder.
