Congrats to Filip who has a solid spin game on both sides, he's very consistent. It was an interesting match, spin vs. aggression!

Jishan has a great forehand no doubt, but his backhand always lacks confidence and threat when the rally really gets going. Many times he gave kind of a medium pace flick to Filip's backhand and Filip was ready to give it back with way more pace. Filip just pressured him with variance in the backhand, sometimes deep/spinny, sometimes fast/wide, and Jishan never got to use his main weapon too much. I recognize many of the difficulties that Jishan faced here because they are also apparent in my game as I am also a big forehand player. Just shows you it's better to be consistently on both sides than mostly strong on one side - it doesn't scale up with that sort of imbalance.

Dominant forehand was the norm back in the day, today's game requires great backhands along with great forehands. I noticed with Jishan, if you get good quality on the return of service, you have a good chance of beating him. I saw him play Eugene Wang a few times, and notice the quality of his service returns against Jishan were pretty good which resulted in huge wins. In contrast, I have seen Filip beat Eugene Wang and lose to him. I agree with Jishan's backhand is not as strong, he needs to work on improving that both spin and speed along with placement if he wants to take his game to the next level especially when players can return well against him.
