The way you talk about 600’s and 100+ hp being “nothing to write home about” is part of the reason all of these younger inexperienced riders are throwing their legs over literbikes right after passing their BRC. I will never understand why people say these things about middleweight sportbikes. A 400 pound machine that produces over 100 hp at the wheel and will run 11’s on the strip fresh off the show room floor and they’re still considered slow or “nothing to write home about”. Do as you please but I just don’t understand.

Agreed, worked my way up to 1000cc super sports after many years of riding. Starting on a SV650s, ZX6r and then a CBR 1000rr. I've had other bikes since. Most people on 1000cc super sports shouldn't be on them. They just want to twist the throttle and hold on. Which is fine, they can do whatever they want, its their life. But they probably won't develop the skill to do anything other then highway pulls and are often out riding their own ability. I saw a 06 CBR 1000rr for sale in my area about a month ago. It was snatched up pretty quickly and two weeks later I saw it listed for sale again but it had be wrecked by whoever thought it was a good idea for them to buy it. I was in the market for a track bike and was pretty bummed out when i saw that.

600’s are quick but take the fact they are 400 and whatever lbs plus the riders weight and if your 6’1 230 lbs now your bike is about 650-700 lbs and the bike is still fast as hell unless your super morbidly obese but when you can get a liter bike for a couple grand more the quality and the amount of bells and whistles you get is actually a better deal for your money. Like for $11,500 you can get a 2018 zx10r krt edition with abs and comes with Quickshifters up and down, traction control, launch control, 3 power modes so you start off with it in low power with traction control to the highest setting and that’s making less power than a 600 so once your comfortable with your bike you can start taken your electronic aids off or lowered. That’s why a liter bike is worth getting but at the same time you can get a left over 2019 zx6r with abs brand new for $8999. That’s a steal. But 12 grand for an old r6 isn’t worth the money at all. I could have a newer faster liter bike for that price

@Andrew Humphrey Good choice for a first bike! As you likely know by now the hardest part of learning to ride isn't shifting, braking, or turning. It's learning how not to let cars kill you. Most first time riders don't understand that. The R6 makes it so easy to go fast and end up in a situation you weren't expecting and can't escape. If you later feel the urge to get something like an R6, and even if you don't, I would encourage you to go to an on-track riding school. Not only is it a lot of fun but you learn to handle your bike up to near its limit. That limit is probably a lot further than you think. I am jealous of you. Riding since the '70s, I still remember the first time I got on a "real" motorcycle. Those first years were magic, and well, it still is. Enjoy.

Bejesus your MC commute reviews are damn too good
@MultiPleaser5 жыл бұрын
That "not a lot of power" comment reminds me of a Motorcyclist Mag jounalist testing the RSV1000 when it first came out. What was it, 130 hp? He said it didn't have enough drive out of the corners in 2nd gear after just taking first gear to redline. What? No wheelies while leaned over?
@nicholasleong43254 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the detailed information. You are very knowledgeable regarding this bike and the way u ride on the road with looking out traffic at the same time having fun especially round the corner. #respect

@blacklight44602 жыл бұрын
The reason the r6 doesn't really need traction control; Much lower and more manageable torque of the R6 when you first crack open throttle while leaned over vs the R1 with twice the tire-spinning part-throttle torque. The same effect applied to the Formula 2 GP 250cc road racers - they could corner even faster than the F1 500s because with less weight and initial torque, they could carry more speed and then pick up the throttle earlier.

Love these bikes but I think the $10k ZX6R with quickshifter is the best new value right now.
@gooklogander75 жыл бұрын
100% correct fastest 600 best low end power for 10k cant be beat. But you shouldnt care about a quick shifter every motorcycle comes with a quick shifter it's called your transmission. Learn how it works and theres no need for a quick shifter. Even though I'll admit you can shift slightly faster with on compared to clutchless shifting
@smaller_cathedrals5 жыл бұрын
@@gooklogander7 Quickshifter is all about comfort. Of course you don't NEED one. But you definitely want one, it's just so ... satisfying.
@gooklogander75 жыл бұрын
@@smaller_cathedrals people wanting quickshifters has nothing to do with comfort donkey. They're shitbox new riders who would rather electronics do their work for them rather than just LEARNING properly that's my point. My 2016 959 is the only one of my bikes with a quick shifter and it's a good one.. provides no more "comfort" than my 03 zx7r or even my 83 Honda. I dont care that I dont have to roll off the throttle on my ducati to shift it wanna know why dodo????? Cuz I know how to fucking shift 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Only place quickshifters are superior are RACETRACKS and non of the new riders who ALL want quick shifters are going there anytime soon

I liked your review! My last sport bike was a 1996 Yamaha FZR and it made about 65hp I think? Back then,the 1000s were making a bit over 100hp and we thought that was crazy! Anyway, I thought my FZR was thrilling and so, I dont think I'll have any problem with the 2019 R6. I'm watching CBR600 reviews too and I will buy one of these bikes in the next couple months. Im from the Philippines. I moved to America when I was 5, but I knew a lot about bikes back then too. Ours were like 150cc or less. And when I heard about 1000cc I was surprised. Im a proud owner of a Daytona 675R and when I show relatives in the Philippines they’re so surprised by it and I’m just bleh about it because I’m already so used to it. The first 2 weeks were crazy, but I learned throttle control pretty early. Hoping to get a liter bike in the next 5 years tho

@@progste bud theres copious amounts of videos on youtube them making around 110 to the wheel. 110 crank for a modern 600 is fucking awful nobody would buy them😂😂 the 636 makes 130 with ram air. You're 100% right about them choking it but it makes more than 100whp.. that's why they still can beat fz-09s mid to top end
@steve-wu7jp5 жыл бұрын
@@gooklogander7 lol no it does not make 130 stock at the rear wheel. Maybe flashed with a full system.
@SHUJINCELL5 жыл бұрын
@@steve-wu7jp True. Real world power with the ram air is something else. I think peak 130hp wheel stock isn't far off from what you'd experience on the highway. On a dyno without ram air you're looking at about 115hp to the wheel stock with only 70% throttle available on the factory ecu programming. Either way, Zx6r is easily the best 600.
