Hi, my kdc-bt950dab activates alexa when I listen to music (at higher volume) it's a nice feature but how do I disable it because it's annoying after a while

can this be used to control other Alexa/smart-home devices? For example, if I have LED strip lights that are connected via a local network in the vehicle can I use the voice control on this receiver to control them? also is there no way to wake alexa on the receiver by voice? seems silly to have to use a button to enable a voice activated service

The receiver can access voice control for anything you can set up with Alexa, it should allow you to control it regardless of where the device is as long as it is part of the Alexa set up and connected to the internet. The button is the only way to wake Alexa. Thanks!

You can on Android, you have to set up the Alexa app to wake when you say Alexa and set it up as the primary Assistant. iPhone I don't think you can.

@@ITmustbebrock So the stereo allow you to wake it up by saying "Alexa" or not? GeekPR-1977 was specifically asking about the stereo, not the type of connected phone.

Alexa app never finds the receiver. Both my phones are connected via Bluetooth and I can answer calls, play music. My app is on the most recent update and the most recent OS (iPhone). I even tried plugging in to auxiliary with no luck and I turned off the radio and turned it back on but it still doesn’t see the receiver. Do you have any idea what I can try?

Does the Alexa feature work on all audio inputs or do you have to set it to a specific audio input, i.e. If I listening to an FM radio station and I press the Alexa button, will the feature play over top of the radio station?

Yes. I can be playing BT song , ask Alexa to play for instance Acdc or Rap song and it will play from Amazon or I heart radio

The microphone goes into the connection on the back of the receiver labeled "mic"

Do anyone have the problem that when Alexa talks it do not play through the speakers? And How do you fix it? It was working then stopped.

The button on my deck doesn't want to cooperate... tough to push.

The button only requires minimal effort to press, you may have physical damage or debris that has made its way into the faceplate. Make sure the receiver faceplate is seated properly on the chassis. Remove and inspect the panel for damage. Thanks

By holding down the volume knob, that activates your "primary voice Assistant", so Siri if you have an iPhone and Google Assistant on Android. The Alexa button only works with Alexa, though.

@@rtubed2471 Alexa is not installed or included with the receiver. Alexa is an app you install on your smartphone and the receiver is compatible with the control over the app. You simply do not install Alexa App on your smartphone if you choose not to use the feature. Thanks!

Well that is all great. Because I wanted to hear jokes through my car stereo. So I press the elexa button and ask to play music and that works but if I ask to make a call it does dial but it uses the phone speaker amd microphone. I have to ask Google to dial a contact then I can use my handsfree calls via the Kenwood.

Fly Gor, It sounds like you have to make adjustments to the Bluetooth settings and permissions on your smartphone. Try deleting the connections and clearing the history, then set up the Bluetooth connection and the Alexa again, making sure to follow the prompts and allow it to make calls. Thanks!

@@KenwoodUSA thank you...I noticed that the BT has calls permission on as before alexa my Kenwood did make calls. So today I asked alexa to call CVS but this time my phone asked if I want to use my phone to make this call and I said yes/always and call went through the radio this time. Seems that Alexa uses some alexa phone service to dial calls. That is when my call will not use the car radio. If you have the alexa app (android in my case) and ask Alexa to dial your contact it does not use my phone dialer app rather it uses the alexa app to make a call. Not sure why. So thank you for the help, it is working but I do not get the part where Alexa just can't use my phone ? Question for the crew who made that app. Again huge thanks !
