So I installed one of these and I'm amazed at the amount of oil it keeps from going into the intake. After 5000 miles the can was pretty much almost to the top. I'd say about 4 or 5 oz.

I had just bought a 2024 Nissan Pro 4X 2 weeks ago. That same day I had place an order, anyways upon receiving it I had just put 250 miles on it commuting during the week work and home., I had just check the catch can a week after instal and sure enough there is oil about the size of a half a tea spoon so this stuff works great. Thank you for recommending this $34 oil catch can, I got mine in anodized silver color.. luv it

Add some stainless steel pot scrub in the baffle section. Will catch way more this way. I’ve done it this way for the one on my Tacoma. Can is usually 90% full at 5k miles

@@temosgarage this particular kit comes with an L bracket with some pre-drilled holes. How you decide to use the bracket depends on how you mount it. I saw someone bend the bracket and mount it somewhere else. I wanted to do something with only minimal modding.

Amount of oil they will "catch" is dependent on how you drive. Do a lot of WOT driving and most likely more will be caught. Still out on whether they help keep the valves clean or not. Know a few who have installed on older vehicles with the DI and they caught a lot of oil over their life, and yet at around 80K, valve job was needed. Know some who never installed catch cans and same result for same engine type...80K valve job.

That's why I went with this budget option. There are companies selling catch can kids with custom tubing for a hundred or more.
@nn431xru1

My only question is…why doesn’t the manufacturer include the oil catch can as part of the engine? If its a good thing, why don’t they do it?
@frontier_etc
@frontier_etc 14 күн бұрын
@@nn431xru1 I truly believe that there is some benefit to a catch can. Is it going to make your engine last 1 million miles? Of course not. But if it can keep the valves cleaner for longer, let's say it pushes back a deep walnut blast to 150,000 miles instead of at 100,000 miles, then that's good enough for me. Especially at the price of one of these universal cans. A $200+ one? No way

I didn't, I plan on doing that at 60,000. There is no dipstick on the 9 speed. And there's no easy way to check the fluid level. You also need special tool to drain and fill it

Purpose is to catch oil vapor in the can from the PCV system so that it doesn't get sent back into the intake manifold where it can potentially gum up the back of the intake valves. With direct injection, there is no gasoline sprayed on the back of the intake valves, which would normally help to clean those oil vapors.
@nodnarbz_1327
@nodnarbz_1327 Жыл бұрын
Sounds like the can might have been overflowing on that 6.0. The PCV system slowly feeds the oil vapors back into the intake. With a catch can you can intercept those vapors and collect it as a liquid oil BUT if you don’t drain the can, then all that nasty liquid oil will go into the intake which is way worse than just having a stock PCV system. Gotta drain them cans!

Check the line that goes into the intake manifold on the passenger side of the elbow before the 6 runners, but after the throttle body. My guess is it’ll be wet with oil. Something to keep in mind: engines loose power over time with a dirty intake.
@Journey_of_Abundance
@Journey_of_Abundance 7 ай бұрын
You're probably not going to notice a loss in oil over 5k miles that goes through the PCV system. However, the proof is right there in the video, or with anyone else who has installed one of these catch cans. That is all oil that would have went into the combustion chamber and thus on the back of the intake valves.
