I noticed the queens you said "weren't diggers, and preferred to just chill on the surface" All those ones were on that 'beach sand' stuff that you already said you've noticed ants don't like to/won't dig in even if they normally would dig. I think you should seriously consider offering a _wide variety_ of substrates to every queen that doesn't have a nest chamber or if you're not sure what nest material they would look for in the wild‼️

The other small yellow ants might be Solenopsis fugax if they're native to where you caught them
@EnderAnts4 жыл бұрын
Maybe, I thought fugax are black?
@Natural_Power4 жыл бұрын
@@EnderAnts Apart from the yellowish underside of their thorax they're mostly a very dark color but there can always be genetic diffrences, for example there are 4 color patterns of Aphaenogaster splendida (I got my first worker of those yesterday, they're the light one :D) These variations happen because of diffrent species mixing, this yellow one might be a mix of Solenopsis fugax and a brighter ant Tho you're not sure about ant species untill you get a myrmicologist with a microscope Maybe when she gets her first workers the mystery will clear up right away Remember: Always new things to discover in the mysterious world of ants✨

some of the your colonies are in nests but still in their test tubes, but those tubes are exposed to direct light? are those species adapted to have daylight conditions in the queens chamber? or is there some method of concealment you weren't showing that was giving the queens their darkness so they aren't stressed from the daylight?

What happened to your pheidole colony?
@EnderAnts4 жыл бұрын
Sadly, they too have died. I think that was sometime last year though. The same goes for all of the other alates I had caught too. Even though they laid eggs, they were eaten 😔😔 Hopefully the next time I find them I’ll let them create their own founding chamber since test tubes don’t do to well.

Isn’t cold in your room. How do you keep then there
@EnderAnts4 жыл бұрын
No, it isnt as cold in my room yet. But when it does get colder, i wrap them in a blanket. Its not much, but my room doesnt get below 60F
@suryansh_31074 жыл бұрын
Ok but I live in India so here it rarely gets 60-65F. So it is around 70F so can I keep ants in my room. I think I can’t because the ants in the wild live in pretty warm areas. I will give it a try and tell you know.

After the next vedio can you make a vedio how to raise a termite colony because i just caught a pair of termites going behind each others butt and i have them in a natural setup like you did for the ants if you make a vedio it will be really helpful for me i love your channel

Thank you Jacob for the suggestion! Unfortunately i didnt see any termites this year as i didn’t go out often. Maybe next year when they fly again i will.

They were dominating that spider and it was still moving but they kept biting it and the spider was “like get off me” and I was like dang that spider is big and it was eating it

I know right, this thing was actually larger than I thought it was when it was next them.

@@EnderAnts I have a Solenopsis Invicta colony that has about 10 workers should I move them out of their test tube now? Hehe
@EnderAnts4 жыл бұрын
hmm, if you want to then you can. They grow really fast so moving them into a larger setup shouldn’t be a problem
@jaketheperson84954 жыл бұрын
Im having lesser and lesser time for ants now cuz of school but Ill try to move them :)
