2020 Audi RS6 Redesign - Too soon?

The 2020 Audi RS6 is coming to the US and I couldn’t be more excited. However there are some strong opinions about the rear design of the 2020 Audi RS6. In this video, we’ll have a look at it and redesign it, to see if we can possible improve the design of the gorgeous Audi RS6.

The front lights are from the Audi A7 so they are not new created for the RS6

Doesn't need any change in my opinion! Edit: Ok now I've kind of grown on the changes that he's made... but if I was to make the diffuser black then I would do the same to all other bits of silver trim around the car.

Long ago the front masks were used to hide the engine and to protect it ( this function is still relevant) and also to cool the engine by air in taking ( not popular nowadays). But after some time the engine get better cooling system so the front mask wasn’t that important. But some brand didn’t stop to use them! Their front masks became iconic! For some time they have only Been used by Rolls Bentley or maybach. But nowadays most car manufacturers started to use this trick to bring more customers which are looking for not expensive but cool looking car which can act like it is a premium class vehicle . Yeah must be said, I knew that the day of popularity of big grills will come soon.

Don't know but i'm throwin this out there: I get the sense that when there already is a good design and you challenge yourself to a redesign of the good design... its the minute details really that definitely change it subtle but effective. And then when there is an obvious design oversight you really try to capture the essence of the brand in the redesign and you do it masterfully. Okay observation part over, now what i'm getting at... I appreciate and have come to admire your takes on designs of cars and what they get right/wrong about it. And that a strong brand identity is a major asset to a company. I also feel like you legit wanted to see what a lightbar looked like on the backend since i think you might like that trend my friend! ;-) Good stuff as always!

The only thing that REALLY BUGS me about this new RS6 is the 'waist line' on the sides of the car being divided up by three. I believe they should've joined it to be one seemless line from the corner of the headlight, going through the door handles and ending at the midpoint of the taillight. Unfortunately, all of the latest Audis seem to have this 'three waist line treatement' on the sides of their cars and I just can't seem to accept that.

The light bar I feel would’ve been a great addition to the a6 as well as the rs6, as it would flow more with their design language, however, there is a part of me that would love to see what it would look like if it had the rear lights as one continuous shape more similar to the a7. But either way the design team did a really solid job on the rs6 and it looks like it will stand the test of time

maybe think about the idea of flip the silver diffusor cover by 180°, so the a carbon diffusor can be added and the exhaust tips will be surrounded well

Also love the front, perfectly designed. The back was the thing that I didn't like that much, specifically the bumper. The difuser is strange, maybe replace it entirely with a smaller difusser and some air vents similar with the front.

Great work on the RS6, although I think it would've looked better without the lightbar. Could you do a modern re-design of the BMW E39 Touring? It's my personal favourite car and I'm very interested in seeing how it would look if it was remade today. It's already got a timeless design, but seeing your re-designs is always interesting.

actually according to some videos online you can spec the 'diffuser' in carbon fibre so that definitely solves the problem

I Am TRiiLO the Designer said it was To add some massiveness to it and get the back low but you can also order it in black or carbon. But not like with the c7 the carbon package will have the same size as the standard things

I think the main problem of the diffuser is the shape of it. Makes the rear look like Aku Aku from crash bandicoot. Mainly with the little grille below the boot lid. If the shape was inverted and but a diffuser instead it would fix it

I agree with the grill being well framed, it doesn't draw too much attention compared with BMW grills to that point that you don't even notice the grill is that big until you mention it. When you look at the BMW 7 series all you see at the front is pretty much the grill, because there are no structures besides the headlights that destract from it and make the grill look silly imo.

One other thing I would change is the Exhaust the whole car is aggressive and then the exhaust tips look out of place they should have done 2 square rectangle like exhausts on either side of the car

I think the rear bumper was designed in a way, that the "stock" RS6 can be sold and certified easily in the US because of the weird federal bumper regulations there.
