2020 AUDI S6 - 700NM TORQUE BEAST - BUT IS IT ENOUGH? - The TDI version for Europe

The new 2020 Audi S6 is surely controversial now in Europe. Audi has a new strategy for some of it’s S-models in Europe, to make them TDI. Reason? They say that their customers are traveling far and want a fast car, with low fuel consumption. Let’s see how the sales show, if this was the right move. For other markets, such as North America, Asia and Middle East, the S6 will be powered by the RS4/5 petrol engine. Anyways, enjoy the detailed video from the streets of Warsaw, Poland.

This S6 basically equals the “Competition” version of the previous generation. Aside that, there also was the S6 with its V8 TFSI engine. SO, they could have easily offered the current S6 with a TDI and a TFSI engine option choice. Even more so if you consider they are currently producing it with both engines anyway.

I understand Audi's reason for doing this in Europe. I have the same interest as I travel, want power and speed but fuel economy. So I bought a A6 with the 3.0 TDI and a software upgrade. Nice to have 515 ft pds of trq and get 42 mpg in the US. I understand they are putting the RS4/5 gas engine for US S6.

@@coolkaiwan Performance car with TDI? Its just S6 not R8 or Lamborghini where you never get fake exhaust or exhaust sound. S models from Audi are just "more sporty" of standard A model. RS models are true performance cars from Audi. You get what you pay for.

I talked about this with the Audi engineers. They said they tested that engine many times, and it made the cars understeer and was just to nose heavy. So they put handling over straight line performance here.

No one does like that, Audi said that the buyers wanted a performance car with good fuel consumption, a car that can run for high mileage without filling up the tanks, but when the S6/7 were uncovered everyone was disappointed, the fake exhausts ain't an Audi thing, Mercedes-Benz got those on some models, the bright side is that V6 TDI is very capable engine especially with the mild-hybrid system, tuning companies say 500 bhp is an easy target.

themobbkillas We can import cars from US without any problems for same price as European S6 while Americans can’t do this. We have cars that Americans can’t buy like Audi SQ7 with 4.0TDi, A6 3.0BiTurbo, A8 4.2TDi, BMW X5/6M50D, M550d...We will have A6 3.0TFSI with same engine just with less hp.

Good car - it is good Audi is distinguish the S series with RS. Previous S6, S5 or S4, S3 is identical with RS6, Rs5, Rs4. With bit of tuning, the S series can go head to head to RS. Nice they have moved S into diesel series

In the end the addition cargo space of the S5 Sportback(i love the hatch), all wheel drive quatro and incentives offered by Audi dealers helped me make a decision. I was looking at the 340i M Performance Xdrive and AMG C43 though.

@@Auditography Well, Alpina has 4 real exhaust pipes on their D5S, it also has 3 litre engine (only BMW uses inline-6, not V6) and it produces around 380 BHP. If it is impossible to put real exhausts on these new TDI Audis, I would rather to have none than to have these fake ones. Honestly, makes the car look cheap just knowing they are back there. Rest of the car looks awesome, especially in this colour combo.

That awesome V8 sound, during launch control start, comes from back & below placed "sound generator". Smoke, at lower temperatures, will not come out of 4 pipes because they are fake too. That makes it, at least, 5 fake & cheep pap craps which surely have zero impact on lowering average Audi fuel emission score, so question is why? For this Audi S6, "S" stands for "Synthetic" or "Simulated" or "Sham".
