I gotta admit this is one of the best sport bikes I've ridden so far. The stock ECU is very limiting until you get the first service done and it will really open up nicely with a flash so I'm looking forward to that. Don't forget this is our next custom build series bike. We will be giving this bike away so if you'd like to sign up, check out the patreon page. www.patreon.com/campisicustoms

Hi Jaret, I live in Munich and I am passing the BMW 4-cylinder on my everyday ride to work. You can be sure the power will change much after your 600 miles and the first service. In german language this is called "Einfahrphase" and is valid for all BMW motorcycles. With this BMW teaches all people around the world how to handle a motorcyle motor during the first 600 miles. :-)

30% less power until you bring it back in for the first service. My 2018 BMW s1000r was a beast afterward but still so easy to ride. The stock akrapovic exhaust that came with mine looked so much better than the 2020 s1000rr imo and had nice exhaust popping.

Thanks for your vidéo. I am a bit surprised that you don’t understand why the bike is limited until the first service. Obviously the whole machine needs a few hundred miles so that everything falls into place. Not only the engine. You usually get different oil too after first service. The big power comes after 8000 tpm, I believe 207HP at 12000...which might be a problem for some. The engine is built to love 12000 tpm, don’t hesitate to make her shout out loud… Have fun!

I kind of agree with your comments about linked braking and hill hold. I have the former on my s1000r, and am a firm advocate of it but when I ride something else I am mindful of needing to use both brakes, and often do rides on the BM where I use the brakes independently. The hill hold - both of my cars (VW and Skoda - both VW products) have hill hold and I do not use it but my wife does, so we are always resetting each other’s cars. Another thing to be mindful about. I think as bikes become more advanced this will be something you will have to know how systems work.

brian glendenning the brakes are partially linked on the R and RR and they separate when you step on the rear pedal. I like that feature as it’s the best of both worlds. In dynamic mode, stepping on the rear pedal actually disengages the ABS for the rear wheel. Be careful!

@brianglendenning1632 4 жыл бұрын
Dan, yes - most of the time I use the brakes linked but there are times especially on track where I use it otherwise. Likewise the QS - I often ride shifting old school way, just to keep my skills up.

Jaret, I spoke to 650iB and he and I were discussing the fact that the Ducati Panigale V4R, from my own personal experience being 6'4" and weighing 242lbs, is actually more comfortable to ride than when I actually test rode the 2019 BMW 1000RR. The engineering, from a riders perspective, on the V4 R is simply amazing. My first guess, when test riding the 2019 bmw 1000rr was that I was actually going to buy the bmw but when I test rode the v4 r, there simply wasn't any comparison, when it came to how comfortable it was during my test ride. At all !!! I know that 650iB felt the same exact way between his BMW 1000RR and his Panigale V4 R when comparing the riding comfort. I'm 1" taller and weigh at least 20lbs heavier than he is and yet we came to the exact same conclusion. Perhaps it's a height thing...
@JaretCampisi
@JaretCampisi 4 жыл бұрын
Wealthy Forex Trader well to be fair the V4R costs almost $20k more than the S1000RR M package so it better be a better bike at that price range. I personally haven’t ridden the V4R so I can’t make a comparison at this time.

@@itsmeericb Yeah the RSV4 has very high foot pegs so its not quite as good for a tall rider. I'd recommend sitting on the V4 and the S1000RR to see which one feels better for your body.

@markettradinggenius
@markettradinggenius 4 жыл бұрын
@@JaretCampisi Yeah, that's what I said too...lol....but for me, it wasn't so much about the money, because I got plenty of that; it was more about not being cramped up or stooped over all the time. I noticed on the bmw 1000rr the foot pegs caused my legs to go higher than they did when I was on the V4 R. Also, the height, from the ground to the seat did the trick for me.

Whatsup Jaret 👍🏻 from what i am lead to believe here in Europe the S1000RR isn’t nowhere near as restricted as your shipped US bikes. Obviously like you say an ECU flash and full exhaust will easily sort that so its no biggie. When you break hard, the inertia of the bike transfers all weight to the front forks. Rear break is useless when the rear wheel isn’t even on the ground.
@JaretCampisi
@JaretCampisi 4 жыл бұрын
Preston Reynolds Yeah so as I mentioned in the video if you use the rear brake first it can actually help to keep some weight on the back tire under hard breaking giving the bike a bit more stability which is why BMW linked the front and rear brake on this model as well.

So what was the point of getting the M package in the first place (honestly curious cause I'm wanting to get a S1000RR as well). It'd be nice to see them do a full CF fender kit for the M package (and a comfier seat) similar to what most super sport bikes do with their "Premium" package.

Note. In case anyone likes predicting the future. They are headed back to the inevitable return to the 1998-2001 Yamaha R1 design, which was the "peak" era of modern racebike body designs, body lines, symmetry, angles, shapes, and headlight design. I don't want to post this comment, because I'm the only person that knows the future on this (just common sense based on knowing what the most beautiful bikes in the world are, having studied motorcycles since I was a little kid). But if you want to get ahead of this thing (engineers and design teams) you need to build an authentic retro replica of the 1998 R1. That's not the only bike that looked good, there was another one from a major manufacturer, but i'll leave that for you to figure out, since I don't want to ruin the secret. One more final secret for you. Nobody likes triangle or square body parts, especially mufflers and catalytic converters. And finally, the most important thing of all. Streetbikes sold for street use need street gearing, meaning no more than 2,200 RPMS @ 60mph. The short gear ratios and wedge shaped mufflers need to end, and they need to end now.

I love the look on the BMW, its very sweet. Any recommendations on a bike for a new rider. Looking to get my first bike sometime this winter. I was told two things, either get something cheaper and get the experience, or just get a 600/750 and learn on that. Ive been looking into GSXR 750 as a buddy of mine has it and bought it as his first bike as well. Absolutely loves it. Curious on anyone else's thoughts. Currently 5'11 at 195 lbs if that helps. Thanks !

GSXR 600 is a great starter bike...750 could work as well but I'd recommend riding it in B mode which puts it at about 60% power
