Just found your channel. Excellent review. Very informative. I love that spec, colour & would get 22 inch wheels but I'm struggling with which engine to buy?? 45e seems like the sensible choice but that battery weight really worries me and how it affects handling in bends, hard braking etc. Almost 400 bhp is appealing but the 50d has that with no heavy battery-pack. And the 40i is also tempting. Ideally, I'd like to test all 3 in one day. Advice...?

@@barrymorkan2383 Thank you, Barry! Well, honestly, if you can’t commit to charging it frequently, there is no point to going for the 45e. As I said in the video, the only other version of this latest X5 that I’ve driven is the M50d and I enjoyed that more. It doesn’t sound quite as good as either the 40i or 45e, but that diesel engine is a beast. On paper, the 40i is more than adequate in terms of performance, so if you want to avoid the diesel, the 40i is a better choice. Otherwise, I’d go for a 50d.

This or a 50d if you do 10k miles a year
@OneTireFire3 жыл бұрын
@@dm9817587 I’d take the 50d.

I just upgraded my 17 mod 40e to this car! I now drive fullt electric daily and only use petrol on long distances. Yearly average consumption expected is well below 3 liters/100km, even with many 500km+ trips per year
@OneTireFire4 жыл бұрын
If you use it as it was intended, you can achieve that ' well below 3 l/100km ' you mention. This model isn't for everyone, but since you've already owned its predecessor, you sound like the right person to get the most out of it.

Great review, thank you! I was planning on the white but I’m now seriously considering the blue.

Thank you! I would totally go for the blue, it's just such an interesting color.

In the Uk the x45e is a great company car due to the low tax and benefit in kind rates

Great review thanks. I am considering buying Hybrid but if I park on the road have no option to install charger. Will it be worth buying Hybrid if I dont charge at home and only charge at public charging stations ?
@OneTireFire3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I would say no. If you don't have a charger at home, you may find it a hassle to keep taking your vehicle to a public station. Maybe you will at first, but over time you might begin to skip it since the vehicle does charge itself on the move. However, when it charges itself, it uses a ton of gas. Don't be afraid of a diesel, if one is available in your country. Those are the best power plants for a big SUV like this.

@@OneTireFire Thanks. I am using diesel for my 520d x G30 at the moment and wanted to move to X5 but I guess at the moment X5 diesel is the best choice for me. Many Thanks this is the best review I came across. Will subscribe and like

BMW should have mated the electric battery power with diesel. Best of both worlds.

If you're into diesel PHEVs, then you might want to check out Mercedes-Benz. They offer both gas-burning and diesel PHEVs in many models nowadays. Check out my video review of the C300de diesel phev if you want to see what those are like.

@@OneTireFire thanks for your reply however I live in Canada and MB doesn’t sell diesel GLE models here any longer. Only the sprinters are available in diesel.

In Western countries it is not very realistic to have brand new ICEv in 2035.
@OneTireFire2 жыл бұрын
Well, we’ll have to wait and see if the 2035 ICE ban is actually enforced. I think people will protest against it - some already are…

I was going to buy rx450h but this BMW X5 45e show up and change my life . Feel luxury , power , better battery , is electric max speed 140km
@OneTireFire4 жыл бұрын
Well, the X5 is 45e is a much sportier proposition. The rx450h is a fine suv, but it is dull to drive compared to the X5 and other German suvs, on top of the fact that the 45e has genuine usable electric range which the Lexus doesn't.
@chengt22362 жыл бұрын
I have 2013 RX450H. It’s over 140K miles now. So reliable never had any issue. The new RX450H seems lower and smaller. I will buy a BMW X5 45e this year. Still worry about its reliability but ready to sell anytime if it starts to give me trouble and have frequent downtime.

the Benz GLE 350de is a better PHEV I think! cause it's got more range 106km. but it's got a diesel 2L 4 cylinder engine tho it's not as good compared to the B58. I think it suits the efficiency characteristic of PHEVs more! plus it's got more torque, 700NM. the only issue I could find with it was its weight which was an eye-watering 2.7 tons
@OneTireFire4 жыл бұрын
I have not had a chance to drive the plug-in version of the GLE, but I am working on it :D It certainly beats the BMW on range and efficiency, although I think it's aimed at slightly different buyers. The kind of buyers who value the sound and smoothness of a six-cylinder and are willing to sacrifice a bit of efficiency and range compared to the Mercedes. I am driving my first Mercedes plug-in hybrid over the next weekend and I'll have a video on that soon.
